For those of you who are decidedly anti-iPhone and had to suffer through the parodies, strategies and general chatter, I sincerely apologize for the pain you must have endured this past week. For those of you who battled the lines, camped out and sat patiently at your desk until you could order online- congrats! The iPhone has officially been released on both coasts and while I was unable to catch New York's Greg Packer get his, I was able to catch the San Francisco campers getting theirs. It was madness, insanity and utter chaos, and we loved every minute of it. Minutes before the final hour, the Apple staff was lead into the building, where they roared with iPhone chants and a proper countdown. And as the clock struck 6 pm, those first in line - including our friends Jerry, David and Dale - all ran into the store to get their long awaited treasures. It was a glorious moment indeed.

Want more? You can check out macgirl's photos from the line at Fashion Island Apple store in Newport Beach, Ca. I must say, the queue there looks a lot more civilized than the one in San Francisco. Of course, if you waited in line don't forget to share your photos in the Geeky Things I Love group. To learn how to share, see the list below.
I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

OK, if I wasn't anti-iPhone before, the cheering people on to buy stuff thing pushed me over the edge.
1Who are these people?
2I wish I were there! I'm just not a fan of Cingular/ AT&T, but I want that phone so bad!!!
3Okay...first, I *don't* want to switch to AT&T/Cingular, b/c they SUCK. Secondly, I'm nervous about buying the first edition of any new tech thing, because there tend to be bugs. Better to wait, and allow Apple to tweak/perfect the iPhone experience first.
But once those kinks are worked out, and Apple expands the iPhone to other carriers (Sprint?), I WANT ONE. Christmas 2008, here I come!
4I was the first in my city to get one... Waited outside for about six hours... and I was the only girl up until 5:30pm! haha. It's such a cool phone. I understand people who want to wait for the kinks to be worked out and test drive their friends' phones first, but I just wasn't one of them. The only drawback as of right now is that I'm having a number ported over from Sprint and it can take up to 24 hours.
5Alas, I want one, but I'm not going to cancel my current plan, pay a 200 dollar cancellation fee only to turn around and sign up with a new company and add a $600 phone. I hope at some point that Apple will branch out to other cell phone providers. I love Verizon too much to switch and have heard too many complaints about Cingular/AT&T coverage around my area.
Here's hoping Apple branches out in a year or two!!! (crosses fingers).
6There was absolutely no line in Houston.
7I me and DH both have one and they are really, really freaking cool.
Haha, my friends and I went to the mall yesterday at like 5 and there was a huge line. I then figured out it was for the iPhone. It's so ridiculous. But it was fun, haha. We stood on the second floor of the Chandler mall and looked down at the people like 2 minutes before it came out. Then at one minute, my friends and I started counting down...no one joined us until about 15 seconds HAHA. People are insane. I wouldn't get it unless I had AT&T in the first place..and even then...I have a Sidekick and when they first came out they were about $400..so, in a few years I bet anything the iPhone will end up about $100. If they last that long..
8OMG, i love the look on their faces.
i wish i could have camped
out with them.
9they seriously need to branch out to tmobile, then maybe i'll consider getting one.
10Too cute, it looks like you had so much fun!
