I've never embarked on any online dating adventures, but I have many friends who have — some have found love, while others have had miserable experiences. The whole idea of having to weed through potential suitors not only to determine which ones have legit profiles, but also to decipher which ones could be a potential match seems so daunting. Now if I were searching for love online, a new service for Skype called Skyecandy seems like a quick and painless way to meet people. Skyecandy is a speed-dating service that matches you up with real people via Skype and your webcam. From there you chat with people in five-minute intervals, and when the five minutes is over, you click yes or no to indicate if you're interested. If both parties click yes then you can continue chatting with that person for free over Skype. Sound good to you?

Way too impersonal
1I agree. Plus I think that just sitting in your bedroom is a weird context for a first impression.
2No judgement for people that do this, but I need face to face to judge the chemistry.
3i'm not really comfortable with speed dating in real life or online... too many creeps & not enough time to notice the potential creepiness!
4It's a great concept, I think, but I personally wouldn't use it. Just the whole connotation of "speed dating" bothers me...maybe to meet a new friend, perhaps, but not for romantic encounters.
And yeah, I agree that the first impression of someone being in their bedroom seems a little...invasive? private? weird? I don't know the right word...just wrong.
5Plus, I tend to look awful on webcam... something about the angle and lighting.
6I have never speed date because I think it's akward. Maybe on the phone I could beat that fear and if nothing happens I can always disconnect or block somebody.
7I think it's a better way to try the experience without really go trough being shy or something.
I think quick video dates is a great idea. I have tried the normal internet dating and it is so slow with silly kisses, winks and drawn out emailing - when you do actually ever see them for real it has been a big disappointment - so i say - at least some idea on webcam is better than no idea with only a 5 year and 10lb out of date profile.
