Michael Moore and Steve Jobs will be going head-to-head this Friday as Moore's new movie Sicko premieres in theaters the same day the much talked about iPhone goes on sale.
Headlined News reports that Moore isn't happy with Jobs' plan to get thousands of people to Cingular and Apple stores and steer them away from an educational film about America's healthcare system.
“This is an appalling display of greed and jealousy,” said Moore after a recent screening of his new movie. “Apple and AT&T obviously don’t care about fixing America’s healthcare system. They only care about how many iPhones they’re going to sell." What do you think of Moore's statement?

Um... okay. So everyone is against him and the movie now just because they happen to fall on the same date? Sounds like he is the one that's jealous and acting childish...
1Yeah, I have to agree that I don't really see a link between the two being released on the same day.
And I also won't be rushing out to buy the IPhone (no $$$), but I might see Sicko at some point, so I wouldn't worry too much if I were Michael Moore.
2i'm not getting an iphone nor am i watching the film.
3I'm with tdamji. The movie looks a bit bland to me, and the phones aren't coming to Canada yet.
4I think moore should be more focused on his own health... I mean he can't be even remotly close to a healthy bmi, and in being in a position of "celebrity" you'd think he'd want to give a good image for the sake of all americans.
5rbex,
completely agree with you...who's guilty of greed and jealousy here? it sounds as though he is worried about his bottom line. i'm sure SJ was thinking about the sicko release date when apple came up with a release for the iPhone...geez...
6I think he's reaching a little on this one. There's really not a link between the two coming out on the same day. Of course, when he makes comments like these it draws attention to him and his movie so maybe that's really his goal.
7Er, yeah, Steve Jobs was plotting to bury a movie by releasing a product.
Michael Moore needs a reality check stat!
8dixiebelle6, i think you nailed it. smart man. sad and a little pathetic, but smart.
9FFS! What the hell is wrong with Moore? I think he sees conspiracy everywhere.
10Come on folks, think about it. He says something like that, it gets coverage which in turn promotes his movie even more without spending a dime, it's a great move to promote his movie.
11Well, somebody's definitely not getting a free celebrity corporate account iPhone, that's for sure.
Michael Moore has always been an idiot. He has great ideas, but just has the sloppiest, dumbest ways of going about them.

12Sicko will be showing any other day, as well as the iphone will be selling the day after that. He should just get over it.
13HAHA, what the heck, seriously. Steve hasn't even done anything wrong! Greed and jeaulous?? It looks like Moore is the one who's greedy of making more money and jeaulous of everyone paying more attention to the iPhone than to his stupid Sicko movie.
And even if he is trying to "promote" his movie by attacking Steve, I still wouldn't go see it. The iPhone is much better than seeing a movie made by a fat, jeaulous dude.
14Sorry guys but I've seen the film already at a screening and its compelling, frightning and completely captivating. I left angry, scared and wanting to help. Everyone needs to stop and see this movie. The iPhone isn't important anymore when thousands of Grandmas and Grandpas are left out there working until they die and still cant afford healthcare. Its a really important movie.
15I have no intentions of waiting in line for an iphone. While some people will be waiting for a gadget that will cost them over $2000 a year to use. We will see what happens to them when their healthcare plan doesn't cover any of their medications. That $2000 would have come in handy. Well watch Sicko and start caring for your future and others. Nonetheless great publicity for Michael Moore.
16I agree with Dukesup. I've seen it as well and its scary and still extremely important to see. I stongly urge everyone to take healthcare seriously in the next election.
I like my Ocean better than the iPhone anyways!!
17I'm so sure that Steve Jobs and Apple waited to find out when Michael Moore was releasing his "documentary" so that they could release the iPhone. As if the world revolves around Michael Moore. I have no plans on seeing Sicko ever.
18this is exactly how Michael Moore operates. it's his mindset - everyone is out to get him. take everything he says (in his documentaries too) with a huge grain of salt.
19Ha ha ha Brilliant. Apple iphone comes out same day as Sicko. Apple iphone comes out same day as Sicko. When I'm thinking about the iphone I'm never going to be able to get, what movie is coming out? Sicko is coming out the day of the iPhone release. This is brilliant! The entire world will remind me that this movie is coming out. i won't have to remember the day. Thanks Steve Jobs! Michael Moore's movie will be seen by millions, but just incase you forgot the date, iphone release = day you can go see Sicko. YES!
20I'd much rather see Sicko. Hopefully people that want the iphone can do both.
21Yes, I'm sure that Steve Jobs researched the release date for Sicko when planning the iPhone release date. What a joke.
22I read the article and I don't understand the "conspiracy" aspect of Moore's statement. He assumes Apple synched their release date with that of "Sicko"? or that they've a vested interest in deterring interest in the nation's health care system? Huh??? The key word here is "obvious" (i.e. "Apple and AT&T obviously don't care about fixing America's health care system"). No, the fact that the iPhone is being released on the same day as his film does not imply that Jobs is anti-healthcare reform.
Lastly, I'm not sure why Moore would think Al Gore (who obviously worked closely with Bill & Hillary Clinton) would want to steer attention away from health care issues considering it was a major, major part of the Clinton platform way back when...
23Me me me! Pay attention to me! I know, I'll use the iPhone to drum up some publicity!
Douchetard.
24Everyone is entitled to a little crazy here and there. As for his BMI, being fat doesn't render your opinions moot.
It would be lol however if he went on Celebrity Fit Club. A bit of a cheap move though. I doubt he'd do it.
25You know, I think he's right. If the iPhone had come out LAST week and his movie this week, everyone would be focused on his film.
*rolls eyes* What a moron. His every breath is a publicity stunt.
26I love Michael Moore. I believe it is a coincidence that the phone will be released on the same day as his film, but there are various show times, so I do not see why someone could not buy the phone and then go and see the movie later.
27I don't think he was being serious. That statement doesn't seem like him.
Idk, I guess.
28Michael Moore is the king of propaganda. I boycott him on principle whether he's right or wrong about what he says.
29He drives me freaking insane. I can't even watch his movies or whatever they are called because of his negativity.
30this guy seems to be angry a lot.
31this guy seems to be angry a lot.
