Designers, manufacturers and brand managers seem to be in a constant flux about what it is that makes gadgets appealing to women. Sometimes they take the pretty in pink approach, splashing Pepto Bismol-color all over mice, laptops and MP3 players. Sometimes they ignore the fact that women have different wants and needs. Either way, it's hard to find a healthy medium of a quality product that hasn't been dumbed down to suit it's audience's perceived needs.
Despite the challenge, a new company called G Cube hopes to break the traditional gender mold and create peripherals tactfully geared toward feminine tastes. Their website claims they recognize the "computer peripheral market in particular and the electronic category as a whole, has traditionally catered to the masses which results in products that leaves consumers with little choice in the aesthetics and totally expressionless."
The company's Travel Tini Collection and Lux Leopard Collection are available at OfficeMax now and other items will begin selling at Staples this fall. It includes cutesy Heart & Soul mice, colorful keyboard and mice sets and even colorful web cameras. Bright, hued gadgets seem to always be a hit with you readers so I suspect the company is on the mark.

I like the intent of this company and the mouse is cute, but sometimes I am annoyed by these tech companies that think a product geared towards women = 1/pink 2/cute-sy 3/glam-a-zon-y.

9It would depend on the peripheral. Proportionate size (smaller for my smaller hands and body) would be a big factor, as would multifunctionality. Color selection would be nice, but usability always wins out with this geek girl.
10No, I'm a minimalist pretty much and also appreciate things that have no flashy decoration to them. I hate enormous logos and designs all over things. I find items (such as peripherals) that are overly feminine to be garish and tacky typically. I'll stick with my good ol Mighty Mouse, thx.

15Design and color availablity is nice. I get tired of getting stuff in black, white and grey. But pink for women is getting played. Give us more vibrant color choices.

17If I was in the market for a new item and it had all the features I wanted at a reasonable price I might go for something like that. But I wouldn't buy it purely because it was cute.
18Yuck, I think it's tacky. I wish companies would realize I'm looking for functionality not colorful things. I think Macs are incredibly chic and elegant but I wouldn't own one if it wasn't the most efficient computer I've ever used.
