I have two twitter accounts
One where I only follow friends and another where I only
follow blogs and other interesting folks that aren't friends. It helps cut down on the "following too many people" mistake.
1I walk the fine 140 character line when I am out and drinking. I have someone proof my tweets before I send them.
I also walk the fine line with my real user name. I joined twitter as a joke for my husband. He told me about Demi Moore going as mrskutcher and thought it was sweet. I signed up as mrsXXXXXX since I never took his last name IRL. The only funny thing is that now when folks see me around or at tweet ups they call me mrsXXXXX and I usually don't respond.
2I would never use my face as my avatar. I don't know the majority of people who follow me (I write for several local blogs here in DC, and that's where most of my followers come from) and frankly I don't need strangers running up to me and asking if I'm me (which happens - not often - but enough so it's creepy, even without plastering my face all over the internet).
3Yay sontaikle, I'm glad I am not the only one who has two accounts! One personal, one professional. It just makes sense for me! Thank goodness for apps that makes it easy to manage multiple.
4I use a different avatar than the default for my twitter account, but not my face. As long as they don't use the default, I don't really care.
Another thing that really irritates me on twitter... When an organization goes to a meeting of some sort and will tweet quotes from the speaker incessantly... or if someone goes to a big conference like comiccon and feels need to tweet every 2 seconds about every single thing. Don't spam me!
Or when people put the # sign in front of every.single.word. Obnoxious.
5Incessant hashtag use is so irritating. Other things that are wildly annoying - Listing huge bunches of names on followfriday for about 10 tweets in a row. Or RTing friends to the point where you have to unfollow half the friend group so that your twitterfeed isn't an echo chamber. I hope Twittersnooze comes back, I haven't found an alternative yet for when my friends go to conferences or temporarily decide that Twitter is All About Marketing!!![tm].
