Since the Twitter whirlwind took the world by storm, I've never felt more connected to some of my friends, colleagues, and favorite celebrities.
Unfortunately, I've noticed that some of my favorite blogs — written by copious tweeters — have had posts fall by the wayside (I'm looking at you, Mindy Kaling).
And it's not just celebs — I've watched the blog posts of my personal friends decease in frequency as their twittering has skyrocketed.
For many it seems the immediacy of Twitter satisfies the need to get your voice out there — not to mention that Twitter gives you the instant gratification that blogging doesn't. You may see a comment or two on a carefully crafted rant about soy milk on your blog, but if you Twitter it, your friends (and random Twitterers) post @ replies to you at rapid-fire pace. It's exhilarating.
Anyway, I miss some of you bloggers. And I need to know: have you been blogging less because you're twittering more?

I try to balance my tweeting with blogging...sadly, yes tweeting more than blogging
1haha yes! I feel so guilty neglecting the blog... but the twitter feedback is just so quick!
2Because of my crazy schedule the past six months, Tweeting is about the only thing I have time for! It's sad that my blog has to suffer, but what can ya do?
3FB @ FabulouslyBroke.com:
Nope. I blog daily, sometimes twice a day with notes, and I tweet constantly.. I only stopped in June when I lost the internet LOL
Whatever I tweet, I tend to have blogged about, or will blog about.
4Hi! This is a very good point. I just Tweeted it because I think it's very important, especially for business owners. Abandoning your branded blog, which you own and control, for Twitter, which someone else owns and controls, is an unwise thing to do. It's best to use Twitter to supplement solid marketing outreach, including a blog, that you own and control. That way, if Twitter suddenly disappears or changes in ways you do not like, you have not boxed yourself into a Twitter corner that you cannot get out of.
5In a busy week, I tend to do less of Tweets and blog, I post more of photos and relied more on Tumblr. I wish to expand, but in this economy and this stage, I haven't seen people with similar visions or have the time to join my venture yet, unless I hire a PR. Thats another blog entry or discussion...
6Yep! It's just easier and quicker to micro-blog. Plus hardly anyone reads my blog, but people read my tweets because they're right there and they're short. I'm still updating my blog, just not as much.
7I've got to agree with Donna Maria on this one. Yes Twitter is tempting and gratifying (that's when it's not "frustrating") but let's not forget our own branding and personal online real estate. For me, I'm coming to realize that whilst I mostly love spending time on Twitter that it is overall not time well spent by comparison with other areas that I could be investing that time for a better result.
8I think tweeting makes it easier to just say something quick. When I blog, I like having some form of a story based on a single idea. But sometimes just want to share the information without building a whole post around it. So, yes, I think my blogging suffers sometimes from my tweeting. But I definitely wasn't blogging enough BEFORE I started using twitter!
9I don't have time to sit down and post entries all the time, so tweeting is nice because I can constantly update when I do something interesting or see something funny...
10But I like the idea of archiving my posts so that I can easily find something by the date or month... so I was using Loudtweet (which updates your LJ with your tweets daily). Once in a while, I will take the time to write a real update on my blog.
But now, Loudtwitter crashed and apparently they are "discussing the future" of the website now... sad. Anyone know of a different website that can do this?
Yes. I just have a blog for friends and stuff and I've hardly written anything regularly since I started twitter.
11umm, i try not to neglect my blog, and i still constantly blogging. but i do neglects my facebook.
twittering is easier and much more fun.
