Ever wondered what cell phones the Gossip Girl characters would carry if Verizon didn't sponsor the show? Me too.
We get to see what the real-life kids would carry through the voyeuristic lens of Bravo's new GG-inspired reality show NYC Prep. Although the dialogue doesn't crackle as much (these are real teenagers, after all), one thing the fictional show got right is the cell-phone addiction. To be specific? You only need one word to typify their cell-phone obsession: BlackBerry, BlackBerry, BlackBerry.

There was not one cell phone that got screen time last night that was not a BB; it was even noted by one of the girls: "I love how we all have BlackBerrys. It's like the typical New York thing."
Indeed, like Gossip Girl, their phones almost never leave their teen hands, and one teen girl even corrected her mother that she's not texting — she's BBMing.
What else is hot for NYC rich kids? Gel cases! White, red, grey, black, burgundy . . . though, no green, oddly.

am i the only one to think that blonde chick looks like she's in her late twenties? eek.
1A little part of my BB addiction just cried out in pain.
2I NEED A NEW PHONE
3So Glad I ditched the blackberry for the G1!
4No that girl does look a wee bit older; she's also incredibly annoying, and I only saw the preview special!
I have also corrected someone when they said I was texting and was actually BBMing.
5huh, no iphones...
6I watched the preview special and decided to stay away because the blonde chick is not only annoying and old looking. She looks like a guy.
7no offense to anyone who has lots of money, but i think these kinds of people are exactly what is so wrong with the world these days, NO teenager should feel this much entitlement to anything, and NO ones family should be allowed to have that much money, its just ridiculous, how do you live with yourself and you million dollar apartment and your 3000 dollar outfit when people are starving and homeless world wide, Personally id be ashamed of my self.

9i agree
There's a lot of fun "NYC Prep" content at BravoTV.com. For instance, there's a fun quiz to see whether you could survive in the Darwinian private-school world of "NYC Prep":

If you're still having trouble telling these teens apart, check out the "NYC Prep 101" photo gallery

@Cherryblossom, they are pretty spoiled kids. But regardless of how bratty they are, their parents worked for that money and those million dollar apartments, and I don't know about you but I sure want one of my own. It's their choice what they do with their money. If they don't wanna spend it on those less fortunate, that's fine. But almost all (there are so many exceptions but still...) of those people who are "less fortunate" really just haven't tried hard enough> Personally when I get out in the world (still in school), when I have no money i'll no it's either around the corner for me to keep working for, or I'm not trying hard enough. And I am a LAZY person, probably to the degree of the people on nyc prep, so I understand that if I'm gonna be lazy and not try, then I don't deserve any money. Now if you live in a 3rd world country, that's a different story, but those rich heirs' parents (most of them probably, I didn't look it up, but if not I mean their parents) worked for their money, and if they don't wanna be philanthropic with it, then it may be kinda sad when you think about malnurished little kids in africa, but I'm sure that those kids know that their not entitled to rich peoples' money. So don't get on your egalitarian high horse, because if you were really trying to help starving and homeless people, you would be in those places around the world, ACtually helping them instead of writing on a blog for a channel that doesn't even come with extra cable (I don't mind the extra cost guys, Bravo's pretty rad).
