Did you have aspirations of being a Clear pass holder — the paid service that let you breeze through airport security? Every time I went to the airport and saw the empty Clear Lanes line — contrasted with the long line of all us regular peoples, I promised myself: One day, I'd have a Clear pass. Well, my dream will never come true, because Clear and its parent company, Verified Identity Pass, Inc., have just filed for bankruptcy and are closing down.
On their website, they assure their current customers (whoever you lucky dogs were) that your information will remain secure, but that they won't be able to issue refunds. And you'll have to go back to waiting in the security line with us regular folks and our cats.

That's a bummer. It was a good concept.
1oh well..sounded like a good idea at first but hey..!!
2bummer... good thing I'm not doing the 4 day a week consulting gig anymore!
3what airports had this anyway? even when i was traveling from nyc back to texas I never saw this... even in a ny airport.
4I laughed out loud when I read this. I have only encountered Clear Lanes once on my way home from a business trip and my encounter with the service was a little less than pleasant. In fact a TSA representative pushed her way to the front of the line, all of my things and the things of the gentleman in front of me were on the belt ready to go in. The TSA gal pushed our stuff back and put two people in front of us and was about to put a third when I asked what was going on. She got terribly pissed and started yelling at me that "they had paid for that right" and on and on. The guy in front of me turned to me was just as shocked as I was and replied to the TSA agent, you could use some customer service training, she simply asked a question. Good idea- HORRIBLE implementation!
5i only ever saw them in denver (i think) and NO ONE was using it.. if we had them in boston i would have considered
6You wrote, on June 23, that "Clear and its parent company, Verified Identity Pass, Inc., have just filed for bankruptcy..." Meanwhile, as of today, July 20, they have yet to file. You may want to correct that for the sake of accuracy.
7I'm sory you had a bad experience interacting with aTSA and CLEAR agent. However, that was one experience. The service was fantastic fr the frequent traveler, and I found most of the TSA and CLEAR agents to be VERY polite..there are always exceptions. i just want to make sure you don't trash an entire company/concept over someones reaction. After all, you have probably had bad/rude service at many establishments at some point.
