So I can say this now, but I was really, really nervous that Beatles: Rock Band was not going to do my favorite band of all-time justice. Then I saw the trailer and was bolstered with hope. And then of course, I experienced it at E3 and all my potential disappointment wasted away. I will be buying this game, and my neighbors will be banging on my walls to get me to stop singing Hard Day's Night.
If you still have any doubts, check out this gorgeous new video — a veritable history of the Beatles, in animated form — that IGN created. However the game turns out, IGN has been working hard to please legions of devoted fans.
So for hard-core Beatles fans like myself, tell me — did the Rock Band game ever give you pause over whether it would live up to the band's legacy?

I was never worried it wouldn't be good. I knew this has been one of Apple's major projects for the las couple of years and that they were heavily involved with it with Harmonix. As their previous major project in conjunction with another company was "Love" and I saw that in Vegas and it was stunning, I had no doubts that this was going to be worth waiting for.
1The art direction is amazing. stunning.
2It still makes me sad that their songs are all owned by someone who has nothing to do with the band.
3That's the case with most artists of that time. If it's any consolation, Michael Jackson has sold at least half of his holdings to Sony due to, ahem, legal troubles. I think Paul still has a stake
4He only gets Paul's half of the songwriting money though. In 1990 when the copyright came up for renewal under the law, as John was dead, his half reverted to his estate. Seems a bit unfair really, still, I'm sure Paul wouldn't want to swap places.
5i was scared that it would be too mainstream and miss the essence of the beatles. that it would play up too much on the 60s and beatlemania, but its beautiful and amazing and does justice to my four favorite men in the entire world. My screenname comes from the last song of the abbey road cd. AHH, so excited!
6As a Rock Band virgin, I want Rock Band Beatles in a big way, but am a little teed that the package bundle is (a) priced at approx. $75 more than a Rock Band 2 bundle, and (b) doesn't even include a guitar, so that by the time you buy a guitar, the package is now $375 or so. That seems greedy to me.
7I plan on getting the Beatles Rock Band set, since I don't have Rock Band currently (only Guitar Hero). It comes with a replica of Paul's Bass Guitar... Won't that work as a regular guitar for the game too?
8OMG I'M SO EXCITED!!!!! Seriously. I can't wait. I have never wanted a game this bad.
9Michael Jackson never owned the Beatles songs. He only owned the publishing rights to the songs. EMI owns the rights to the actual recordings. And Apple must give their permission to release the recordings in other formats. Which is why it was Apple, not Jackson et. al., who had to give permission for this game. Because it uses the original recordings.
10Yknow IGN didn't make that video or develop the game. It was Harmonics.
