Although I feel right at home surrounded by gadgets and technology, attending the WWDC made me realize that I was walking into a man's world. Making my way to the West Hall of the Moscone Center, I could see that the line outside was 99 percent XY chromosome, and only a spattering of ladies braved the gaggle of geeks alone.
Even though I was outnumbered, I could still find joy in the little things that happen when you get this many geeks together in one place. For example, one of my favorite moments of the day took place after all the big announcements in the keynote had come and gone, and I made my way to the restrooms. Yes, just like at MacWorld, there was a big line for the men's room, and crickets coming from the women's restroom. These are the times we cherish, am I right ladies?
But among all the fun, there were some blatantly obvious signs that this event was more male-focused than not. To find out what they were, just read more.
- As I made my way to registration before the keynote, I saw these girls. Not exactly "Booth Babes," not quite swimsuit models, but they did serve a purpose. They were pimping a new app called iPorn. I guess you could call them iPorn Girls?
- After the keynote, as I was trying to find a place to plug in my Macbook Pro, I heard an extremely loud belch coming from a group of classy males to my right. After attempting to give the 'ole stinkeye, not one of the dudes posting it up along the wall would make eye contact. That's right guys, not in public.

1Oh, that iPorn girl should find a bottom that fits. She's got a pretty butt, but that's not the best way to display it. Also? The only word to describe her hair is "porny."

3I was just talking to my husband about this today. He said he's not drinking enough water as the lines are too long for the restroom. He also said out of the 5000 attendees he thinks there are maybe 20 women. His quote was "it's mantastic"
He had sent me a picture of the
iPorn girls Monday morning with the subject line "I think she needs bigger bottoms". In the picture he sent me there were like 3 girls and all of their bottoms where that small, it was
supposed to show crack. Not sure how I feel about that trend, maybe if my butt looked like theirs I'd be in?

5I'm a hardcore runner, so my butt it stellar. But, I still wouldn't wear that, Macgirl. It's not the modesty of it, it's just not a good look.
6Wish more people felt like you spacekatgal as my little beach city is overrun with under 20 somethings with their butt crack hanging out.
7I agree their swimsuits are too small. It's not cute to cut off circulation to your legs.
8The sad thing is, they did that on purpose to those girls. I hope this crack-as-cleavage trend doesn't make its way into the regular bathing suit market!

10Geek- It's alive and rampant in Southern California. At first, the mom in me wanted to whisper to the 16 year old that her crack was showing as she walked down the street in nothing but a bikini and flip flops. Then I saw her adjust it down to show more! That's when the husband leans over and says "thank god we didn't have girls".

12I would live for the day where the restroom didn't have a line. I think the only place I've been where there wasn't a line was a baseball game!
When there's a lot of guys in one place, my boyfriend always calls it a "sausage fest"

16and sontaikle, I just interviewed for a game MFG today, and saw only one female working in the gaming area. total sausage fest!

17I'm really tired of seeing that stuff at technology conventions and other places where half naked tramps seem rather unnecessary. This is just another reason nerd guys like me get a bad name. Not all of us will drool because of a half naked girl. I'd rather have a bunch of fully dressed attractive women talking about technology smartly...than trying to market me cell phone porn. Really where are you going to watch this? Bathroom at work? Gross. Beat off when you get home.
18Just to be clear, the bikini girls were only on the street outside Moscone the first day. All the official events were much more professional and didn't pander to the male demographic. Several women gathered for lunch on Tuesday, and socialized throughout the week. And I never heard an audible belch inside Moscone the whole week. WWDC was lots of fun, and I hope more women attend next year.
19it was a one size fits all swimsuit. the girls were just doing their job with what was given to them.
