To say that the iPhone is the most popular smartphone on the market is kind of an understatement — after just two generations, Apple has sold more than 40 million iPhones, and users have downloaded one billion-plus apps from the App Store. And the newest iteration is going to be even better, with more than 100 new features, including the expected cut/copy/paste and MMS support, tethering (which connects your iPhone to your computer via wireless and Bluetooth), and even more that you may not have expected.

Like the one called Find My iPhone. Available for Mobile Me customers, this feature helps you (duh) find your phone on a map by logging into Mobile Me. You can also activate a locator signal (even if your phone is in silent mode) so someone in that area can find it and return it. Plus, if your phone really is lost or stolen, you can wipe the data clean so no one gets your personal data.

There's plenty of other features coming with iPhone 3.0. To check them out, just read more.

4(what the heck happened to my comment!? *confused*)
Like I was trynna say...lol I loooooove my iPhone! &I was so sooo excited about iPhone 3.0 &it's features &release...but now that I know that AT&T won't be supporting MMS or tethering for the iPhone, I seriously thinking about switching back to Nokia. (I refuse to switch to Blackberry.) I'm just getting tired of waiting for features that are readily accessible to others being released in increments to iPhone users.
5nals33 what do you mean AT&T won't be supporting MMS? WHy would iphone offer it if the only compnay authorized to use their phones won't work with it?
6Anyway, I'm SUPER stoked on this! I can't wait!!
Cannot wait!!!
7I found some info on the MMS:
Unfortunately, MMS appears that iPhone users in the United States will be waiting longer. Forstall noted that while iPhone OS 3.0 is capable of MMS, it requires carrier support to implement.
Twenty-nine carriers in 76 countries will support MMS at the time of iPhone 3.0's launch, according to Forstall. AT&T, Apple's U.S. carrier partner, isn't among them, at least not initially. AT&T will be ready to support MMS "later this summer," according to Forstall. That news that elicited boos from the crowd.
8I'm sooo there!
9Woo HOOOO!!! I am SO excited!
Do you have to have a Mobile Me account to make your phone make a noise when it's on silent? Or to be able to wipe it if it's stolen? I want to be able to do those things, but I don't have a Mobile Me account (although I suppose that may change, now that they've dropped the cost of the 15 inch MBP that I've been lusting after).
And, being a science teacher, I am THRILLED that Pasco is working on an App for the phone!
SOOO EXCITED!!!!
10Nevermind my questions . . . macrumors reported that those services are only for MobileMe customers. *sigh* Too bad . . . those two ideas have been years in coming. Maybe one day someone will develop a way to do that without the other tie-ins.
