I got the chance to check out LittleBigPlanet on the PSP yesterday, and put it to a head-to-head test on Sony's latest console, the PSP Go. So after fiddling around with both for a few minutes, I asked myself: "Which is better?" It's really hard to say. I mean, you'd think that moving from one PSP to the other would be as simple as moving from the DS to the DS Lite, but then, you would be wrong.
The PSP Go is notably more compact than the PSP, making the controls closer together, which is perfect for smaller, ahem, more feminine or childlike hands. Good marketing ploy perhaps? Either way, the PSP Go has an amazing screen, is 40 percent lighter than the old version, has the same general control layout, 16 GB of on-board memory, and an online shop to download games straight to your console.
But getting down to the nuts and bolts, which of the two PSPs is more comfy to play with? Find out my take when you read more.
Although I love the new screen and portability of the PSP Go (you don't have to carry around any cartridges), I have to admit that playing with the old PSP felt a lot better in my hands. And besides that, the price point is kinda high for a portable console (a whopping $250), and the wireless is not what you'd expect from a device that costs that much (wireless B, really? It's the same as what comes stocked on the PSP-3000). Change isn't always easy, but I thought that Sony would have made it a no-brainer, since they were the only gaming company that released a new console at E3 this year. The PSP Go hits shelves this Fall for $250, so the decision is up to you.

I'm with you, GS. I'm taking a pass on this one. Most major releases will probably be ported over to UMD anyway, so I don't see any reason to upgrade. Besides, I'll still be able to download games to memory stick on my old PSP like I do now, right?
I only carry my PSP on major trips where I don't mind the heft. Day to day, I get by on iPhone. I think most people are the same way.
1Well cwap! I'm very disappointed. I thought I would be a Playstation girl forever, but the lacking features on the PSP and the outrageous prices of PS3s is pushing me more into the XBox world.
There must be an achievement for that: Microsoft steals Playstation junkie. *bloop!* 9000G.
After Crisis Core I basically put my PSP on the shelf. I'll try the new LitteBig Planet since it's apparently "teh awesome," but I'm not upgrading to anything without a touchscreen.
2i just dont understand why they will not put a second toggle!! i have gotten so used to the PS3 controller... and yet have to reset my brain when i play PSP... such a pain
3Ah, being a PSP lover I was really curious how you'd find the PSP Go, GS.
I'm sceptical about a few things (the layout of the controls, the downloading of games and the memory - what happens if you fill up the 16g??), so I might wait until it's released down here in the southern hemisphere and see if I can have a play with one before I decide.
Or maybe I'll just buy a DS.... haha!
4I'd have to feel it first.
Just like I still feel the best handheld was the original GameBoy Advance,
because of how the shaped felt in my hands...
Still love my DS, though, so...
5I like the idea of not having to lug around a bunch of UMD's but what about the ones I already have? The other thing that is nice about the UMD's is I can buy the one game and my husband and son can also play it. Our PSP's are not that old so I will probably not be moving to this any time soon
6that looks pretty..
7i think i ll stay becuse i can already download games into my memory stick and it free and for something that high ill skip these year were still trying to get out of these deprssion and also something that skinny looks like it can break really easy so i recommrnd to stay
8whats the point the old psp can download all the same games from psp store so y get a go
9I will put down the facts comparing the PSP and PSPGo! here...so you decide:
1. PSP-Plays only from UMD which isn't available in all areas unless you have hacked it to CFW.l
Go- Flash only downloadable games. Available in all areas but then for a kid, he/she needs a credit card and thats dumb. Also wat do the people owning many UMDs do now? Think Sony THINK!
2.PSP-When it released it too released for 250$ but was slashed down after about 3-5months. Not so expensive considering revolutionary grafics and hardware. It destroyed the DS
Go- Same release price, upto you to decide if its worth it. Unlikely that it'll destroy DSi after reading above comments.
3. PSP-Has only wifi, adhoc and skype(on 2000&3000)
Go- Has wifi adhoc skype and bluetooth(word is theyre also making a music sharing connectivity program)
4.PSP-On board memory-0MB, expandable with Sony Pro Duo MS
10Go-On board memory-16GB, expandable with Sony M2(
Contd. from above
1112
it caust alot becouse it has a 16gb build inside of it.
13I don't think that PSP Go is worth it since the PSP Go is a stripped down version of the original PSP. Sure they took out the UMD drive, but that is supposed to make it cheaper, not more expensive. I expected that the PSP Go will be cheaper since the removal of "unnecessary hardware", but instead, they make it more expensive... making the old PSP the practical choice cause what the PSP Go can do (Such as downloading of games), the original PSP can also do (You can buy games from the PSP Network as well as, you know...) but what the PSP Go cannot do, such as playing UMD discs, the original PSP can do.
14i have also wondered about this myself and well...i have read that the go might have a few problems since it is new
15the 3000 has a umd and the bundles r great.if it were up 2 me,id get a 3000 gran turismo bundle but it reele depends on if u liek sleek designs(go) or would rather just buy 3000 bundle 4 50 dollars less.
i liek wat the guy above said
16i myslef would get a 3000
its not a good investment 2 get the go
the go costs 2 much, isnt developed, and overall a stupid invention on sonys part
