Hot dog, y'all — the Palm Pre is finally within reach and will be hitting store shelves June 6! Obviously, I'm pretty excited to check it out for myself, but I am having a bit of an internal debate: will I fork over last month's savings for Palm's newest smartphone, or will I wait (and wait and wait) it out to pick up the latest version of the iPhone, which is surely being released the week following the Pre launch?
And to make deciding where to throw my cash even more difficult, there's word that there will not only be a touchscreen Bold coming our way soon, but a new Storm as well. Decisions, decisions! I'm sure I'm not alone here, being stuck between a rock and hard place, so tell me: which shiny new smartphone would you rather buy?

As long as the iPhone has no traditional keyboard it's just not going to be an option. Plam Pre here I come!
1I'd rather have the iphone, but I'm unwilling to change over to AT&T. I'd have to go for the blackberry
2I've been hanging on to my BB for two years now, and it is finally a reasonable time for an upgrade! iphone 3.0, here I come.
But I wont be waiting in line. Such a waste of time.
3I'm a Mac girl...I love my 1st Gen iPhone and have waited for the 3rd version to upgrade! Hooray!
4Well as shameful as this is for me to admit as a geek, I just got my first cell, let alone SMART phone last week. Its a vey sexy blackberry curve and while at the time I would have loved to have gotten an iPhone, after spending a week with my BlackBerry and having spent months with my hubbies iPod touch.....if it were me, I'd totlally go for the BB Storm.BlackBerries may not get all of the crazy apps that iPhone owners do but the BB has lots of pwerful and more practical apps. I am totally a CrackBerry addict. So like I saidN IF I needed a new phone itd be all about the new Storm.
5My 1st gen iPhone is still kicking and can do everything the new ones can do, and the data plan is only $20 a month!
6the iPhone can't come out too soon. my bb is on its last leg and i am (somewhat) patiently awaiting the new iPhone. I can't wait!
7I haven't been reading macrumors as frequently as I once did. Is there a hardware update coming? I thought it was just the new 3.0 software.
8I want a Pre but I doubt it'll come out in Mexico soon so I'll be in the iPhone line n_n.

11iphones & ipods never seem to be able to change by much.. they just change the way the outside looks! i'm all for the pre.. it's so fresh!

13I know for sure it won't be an iphone because at&t is horrible where I live. i've been craving the palm pre since january but I want to see what blackberry has in store for sprint as well. but that could take ages
and I want a new phone now!
14There isn't a new iPhone coming out soon. There is a new SOFTWARE upgrade 3.0, but that's it. People may be confused because last year around the same time they upgraded software to 2.0, the iPhone 3G came out. That isn't happening this year. It would be all over the internet if it were. I mean -- I'd love to be wrong about this, but all signs point to no new iPhone next month.
15The iPhone's text entry system is SO much faster than a traditional keyboard. I can fly along far faster than I ever did on the 3 Blackberries i've owned

17I've read a ton of new stories about a new iPhone coming out in June...even if it's just a software update I'll definitely buy one. My ancient Razr is on its last legs and I'm a total Apple lover.
18I'm fairly sure there will be a hardware update to the iPhone in the next couple of months. Apple's WWDC is the first week of June and a fantastic time to make an official announcement. They have a fairly predictable refresh schedule on all their products. Also keep in mind last year they released the new 2.0 software and App store the same day the iPhone 3G was released.
Oh, and as far as the question at hand I'll be getting a new iPhone
19Even if there is a hardware update, one, you can't be sure when its coming and two, there's very little that can improve beyond storage capacity. Maybe a better camera or better battery life. But the beauty of the iPhone is that 90% of all improvements will come from software updates.
20What about a faster processor?? I for one would like more speed. Other than that TrueSong you are correct that so many of its fantastic improvements will be coming in the software update. I don't think I would even recommend to my clients on doing an upgrade if they currently own the 3G version. Unfortunately I'm an über Mac geek and will have to have it. I would put money on it that we will see new hardware June/July.

But I will stick with my 1st gen for as long as the plan is $15 cheaper per month and I save $180 a year.
22I'm all over the Pre, but not until they open it up to some provider besides Sprint. My husband and I have both had absolutely horrible experiences with Sprint.
23What about the new HTC Magic? Beautiful form factor with a far superior OS to BlackBerry. I'll take the HTC Magic over the Palm Pre or BlackBerry... but I couldn't give up my iPhone.
The new HTC Magic and HTC Dream G2 will be available from Rogers in Canada on June 2nd!
24definitely palm pre or one of the htc android phones. i have an iphone 3g and its the worst thing ever basically.
