A recent study of approximately 1,000 cell phone owners showed that men average 458 minutes of monthly wireless phone usage, and women average a close 453 minutes. Of course, not all that usage is a simple phone call.
The survey results show that 45 percent of wireless subscribers use the text-messaging features on their device and 44 percent use the camera feature; 17 percent of subscribers play games on their wireless device and 11 percent access wireless e-mail. On the whole, women use the gaming, camera and text-messaging features more frequently, and men use their device for wireless e-mail and accessing the Internet more frequently than women.
"Women are quickly catching up with men in cell phone usage, illustrating that all consumers enjoy the flexibility and mobility that wireless phones add as they communicate with friends, family and business colleagues," said Tim Klein, vice president, AT&T's wireless unit.
As a self-confessed CrackBerry addict I'll admit I use my phone's e-mail and text messaging more than I actually make calls.

I'd say I use text messaging more than anything else, although my camera phone has come in nicely in a pinch quite a few times.

2Um, none of the above. What happened to using a cell phone for its intended purpose -- just to make phone calls? I have to admit that I am personally rather anti-text message. They're useful if you're in a crowded bar and can't hear anything, but I hate that people now thing text messages replace phone calls. If I call you because I want to talk about something, an appropriate response is not to send me a text message 10 minutes later saying "whats up"!

4I'm not a very vocal person, but I do email, IM and text quite a bit, especially with my family and a few friends who are also tied to their computers and phones. For 90% of the stuff I want to say to someone, I don't need to call. For example, I was thinking of my sister the other night and sent her a little inside joke text. Nothing worth calling her for, just a little "*ping* thinking of you" message. Also, I can hold conversation with friends regardless of where I am and pretty much regardless of where they are if we IM, that's not so true with actual phone conversations, which are taboo in many situations.

6i'm ALL about the texting/emailing on my blackberry. if all my friends were into texting as much as i was, i wouldn't need to use my phone for talking. even my mom's into texting! then again, i am from the texting capital of the world, the Philippines!

10i have carpal tunnel from all the texting i do...ok, not really, but i do text message a lot and use AIM when my laptop can't get wi fi connection
11I avoid my cell as much as possible. I believe I use the camera most.
12For my blackberry, I use text messaging ALL the time. I don't even have a voice plan, seeing as how it'd be somewhat worthless to me personally since I can't hear. =) I think the second most-used feature would be web browsing. I just read websites or Livejournals all day long if I'm bored and don't want to pull out a book or laptop to keep myself busy.

16I find that the camera comes in handy, especially when some jerk going about 80 in a 20 and just doesn't see you (like he was really paying that much attention anyway).
