So here's the thing: I like to follow news sources on Twitter to get news updates and alerts, but I think it's kinda weird when they incorporate and pimp their Twitter on their newscast.
A station here in SF literally has a whole segment dedicated to Twitter @replies and asks viewers to "send in their Twitters" to the station. I love how tech is being used more and more in everyday life, but I just think that sometimes it can get a little too in your face. Remember when Ashton raced CNN to a million followers? Who could forget, right?
Am I totally off-base here, or do you agree that reputable news outlets should use Twitter to relay news, and not use it to try and make news? How do you feel about news outlets pimping their Twitter?

That whole 'race to a million followers' was stupid. Ashton hardly tweets anything of interest.
1I agree. My local news morning show pimps their Twitter all the time and have even hired a new employee to report on @replies. And you can tell that they feel so cool about it all. It's enough to make me want to change stations.
2Media doesn't MAKE news, they gather it. I think like a lot of other people they are feeling their way. But anytime MSM tries to connect with community, it's good.
3I like it. It's making media more accessible to everyone and the interaction is a very neat concept with news. I think it needs some more work but definitely is a good thing.
4I have mixed feelings about it - It feels a little like oversaturation, I have a hard time believing that it's anything more than a fad. Are they still going to be covering the segment of @ replies in a year? Eventually it will move on to the next big thing.
5i thought it was really cool when my tweet scrolled across the screen of cnn during don lemon's show. then i saw everyone else's and noticed how technology is ruining the art of journalism. citizen journalists are usually incompetent and we will suffer the consequences of a failed news system in this country.
6I don't really want my news via twitter. I like to choose the stories that I want to read online. However, a weather alert during a bad storm would be beneficial!
