Learning useful hotkeys makes my heart swell, as do any efficient shortcuts (I say it once a week to somebody: if you're not using Quicksilver, you're wasting your own time).
Here's two keyboard shortcuts to expedite shutdown for any Apple computer:
- To shut down, press Control + Command (Apple) + Option and Eject for shut down.
- Alternatively, Control + Command + Eject restarts your computer.

I don't know that four buttons is faster than clicking the Apple menu > shutdown. To each their own, though!
1haha that's what i was thinking... i'm more of a mouse-y person i guess. to me, opening apps with quicksilver also takes longer than just keeping my app folder as a stack in the dock.
2erm, shortcuts? really? i love shortcuts, really. BUT....
you can just press the power button and it'll give you options to shut down, restart or sleep.
