Sure, being able to access Facebook and YouTube at work may make you a happier employee, but are e-breaks getting out of hand?
That's what a recent report on employee application use is saying.
The report warns employers that their employees "will take whatever steps are necessary to use whichever applications they want." Uh, you mean like Spreadtweet? Sorry, employers!
I think you need e-breaks throughout the day to be able to have some "me time" at work and make you more content, but obviously you shouldn't be taking so many e-breaks that it affects your productivity. Being a former bored cubicle-dweller, though, I can attest: spending too much time on the Internet is not necessarily you, it's probably your job.

i take a lot
1a lot
but i still get my crap done
All day is an e-break for me, there is hardly any work to get done here in the first place so I spread the little bit I have all day and surf the net in the between time
2I spend a good bit on the Internet, I admit. There are certain times we are busy and certain times we aren't. It just depends. I still get all my stuff done though.
3Yeah. Since I have changed jobs and I no longer work all day in a cube, I don't really spend much personal time on it at work. When I did, I always posted a lot on the sugar sites!
4More than I should but not enough to make me unproductive. I need breaks in my work, it's intense.
5None for me, at least 98% of the time. Some days I get to check my personal email but it's pretty rare. Then again, my job doesn't lend itself to personal time at work!
6Not much, and only when I've done all I can for that day. And I don't let myself on FB no matter what, because that's just opening a can of worms.
7I like to take the time at least once a day to stop and have a link sharing fest with my boss over our intranet messenger client. Since we DO work in the tech industry most of what we talk about off topic can probably be looped back into something work related, it mainly works to strengthen our nerd bond.
