I turn into an angry she-Hulk every time my cell phone rings and I dive for it, only to hear "This is the second notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire." I all but explode to the recording "But I don't even have a car!"
These spammy calls seem to affect everyone I know — and we're all sick of it. What's the deal? Even if you're on the Do Not Call Registry, these extended warranty companies can still get to you. So what can you do to stop the madness?
You can wait to be connected to someone after the recording, and tell them you'd like to be taken off their list. If you're guffawing right now, that's because you, like me, have already done that and continue to get calls.

Reddit's suggestions for how to put an end to these spam calls is simple: complaints. No, it's not an immediate end to the calls, but it does feel satisfying to officially put in your protest. Here are some of the places Reddit suggests you express your anger.
- To complain about the calls:
- File a complaint on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)'s website.
- File an online complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
- Call your own cell phone carrier and complain.
Have you been getting these calls? Are you complaining, or just hanging up?

A lot of the people behind those calls are just individuals with way too much time on their hands, that's why they can't do anything about it.
I got a couple of those while I was staying in Utah for the summer [just within 2 months!]. The number was actually from a pay phone from in front of a courthouse in Las Vegas. We actually DID go to Vegas [unrelated, we were celebrating], and I got a chance to check out the area...there's an office building for small businesses by the pay phone. No way to get in, but I'm sure it's just a spamming center. I filed a complaint, and gave the location...so have other people. But nothing's going to be done - you have to find a PERSON or BUSINESS to prosecute, and that's the ONE thing the spammers will NEVER provide [if you even get to talk to a person].
1I've gotten them at work, my boyfriend gets them all the time.I hang up. I hate them!!
2People like us can complain all day, but this crap won't stop until it's no longer effective. I can't believe this sales tactic actually works on some people. I bet the same kind of person that works on is probably expecting a big check from a Nigerian prince soon...
3omg I thought I was the only one who got these calls.. I don't even own a car
, so it really
made me mad
4i get one of these calls at least once a day whether it be on my work phone or my cell....very annoying!
5Good grief. Thank you for this post. I get at least 5 of these calls a day. In fact, I get so many, I leave my personal phone in the car most days. ANNNNNOOOYYYYING.
6omg i thought i was the only one!!! thank you so much for this post! lately i haven't gotten them that frequently but i used to get them AT LEAST twice a week.. how annoying!!
73 times today I have received this stupid call. Different numbers every time.
8I received this same call today, too -- at work, rushed to get to it, and rubbish.
9happens to my boyfriend all the time! you can also go to www.donotcall.gov to get your number removed from any of those spam calling lists.
10I had this happening to me last year on my cell. I would get about 2-3 calls a day about this warranty crap, so I googled the number that was calling me and found out a lot of people were complaining. So I looked up the number with the BBB and contacted the parent company of the 'company' calling me. It was not such a hassle once I got a hold of them- a really nice lady helped me and took my name off the list. I've not had a call since last fall. She said they have been having 'problems' with that company and apologized. I wish I could re-find the name/number of the parent company to share with all of you... I will keep looking and let you know if I find anything. I was SO happy to have those calls stop....!
11I don't even have a car either! lol. I get these calls about 2 to 3 times a month. eh, I just ignore them (i live in california, so if it's missouri, utah, etc, I know to ignore) or hang up. if I was getting them like some of you (2-3 times a DAY!) i'd be filling complaints left and right!
12I get these on my cell sometimes...I'm 14 and will not own a car anytime soon. I just delete them when I get them. Telemarketers and the people behind these calls rank among the most annoying people on earth.
13This have been plaguing my university. Each classroom has its own phone, and somehow whatever company is doing this is dialing them! It's kind of annoying to have my class interrupted like that.
14i get them all the freakin' time. sometimes multiple times a day, on my cell and landline. it's awful!
15Count me in as one of the many who get these obnoxious calls. Got one this morning, pressed 1 to talk to someone, asked them to please take me off their call list and got an abrupt "no" then a hangup. I will do whatever I can to stop these. I was thinking I should take the call then proceed to give a bunch of fake info, until I've wasted enough of their time (and some of mine too, but their phone time is their lifeline).
16Reporting this to the BBB is impossible because the BBB requires an address, city, state, and zip, also a business name. These callers do not identify themselves in any way. The caller ID just says Auto Warranty, or sometimes Restricted. So the advice is useless.
