Experts keep saying light, inexpensive netbooks are going to reshape the computer industry, but it turns out the weight and price may not be final factors when it comes to customer satisfaction with a machine. A recent study of consumer interactions with a bunch of companies proved happiness and overall satisfaction with Macs is higher than for several major Windows PC builders.
The study examined the usefulness, usability, and enjoyability of those experiences of five large PC manufacturers: Apple, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, and Hewlett-Packard (HP). Apple took a bite out of the pack, while Dell sagged at the bottom of the barrel. Which of the criterion do you think is most important?

I experienced this in the past year. I bought a cheap Dell Inspiron 1525 for around $500. I hated it. It had Vista, it was slow, and it kept freezing up. I saved up some money and bought a MacBook about a month ago. It's well worth the money I spent on it. I will never buy a PC ever again.
1I guess I'm being "male-minded" about this, but none of these have really deterimined my long-term satisfaction with my computes.
It's whether/how much it costs to maintain the computer, should something bad happen to it. In the case of my Mac, I haven't had to take it in for repairs at all [except for when I found I had to get a new one [and the cost to repair>>>buying a new one].
With all my PCs, I had to take them in for "issues" at least every month, and then replace them after they weren't fixed the first time.
2The determining factor of my end rating of a machine is why its being replaced. With my Sony it was in the shop 3-4 times over the 2 years I had it, it cost $1500 when I bought it and got replaced after being sent in and told it had 'water damage'. So my satisfaction with that machine would be 1 out of 5 lol.
Now the mac I've had for a year I love, no problems what so ever.
3i am perfectly happy with my dell. i think it was a great purchase and when i replace what i have i'll be buying another dell.
4Hmmm, that's an interesting question to answer. I was thinking of buying a Mac, but at the end, I did not because due to work related issues, pricing & storage issues, I got a PC. I got a lower end PC but mind u, one was Acer, the other Gateway and in their original manufacturing boxes. Twice before that, I got refurbished used to be IBM, & they were lemons. Now, Acer only have a minor or two issues after 3 yrs. Gateway, well, close 2 a yr, only a minor or two issues, which I dealt with online forums. Forget about extended supports & just look up online & get ur own satisfaction in time faster.(sometimes)
5For me it's whether, or not the machine is doing what I need it to do. I've always purchased PCs and have never had the monthly problems people constantly talk about I currently have 3 XP and 1 vista machine in my house. The Vista is a gaming PC that I've had for about 3 months and has worked flawlessly all of my XP machines have had no problems. May in 2 to 3 years I may replace something, but that depends on whether or not I can upgrade my most current PC, a Dell XPS M1530, to what I need. I customized it for performance and it's doing just that.
6I think you get what you pay for. If you make an investment and then treat the machine well, it will last you years and keep you satisfied. (That's been my experience, at least).
7If it's stylish, sleek, easy to use/maintain and does what I need it to do, I'm satisfied. So of course, I buy Macs.
8It's got to be sexy! That determines my satisfaction with my machine.
I do graphics for a living, as you can see from my icon that I created. I spend a lot of money on my computers and software - and I would never buy anything but a Mac.
I think most GeekSugar readers are Mac gals. And why not? Macs are the most stylish, sexiest, coolest computers that exist. For me, that's as important as the CPU speed or other technical specs that influence speed.
9I bought a mac nearly a year ago, and I still love it.
However, I'm still VERY satisfied with my Dell XPS laptop that I bought about 3 years ago. I take care of it, so it still works like brand new... but it wasn't exactly cheap either
Everyone I see with the cheaper Dell laptops seem have sooo many problems.
10Usually, it's how many issues I have with the device over it's lifetime and how easily and cheaply they are fixed.
When choosing a device I always pick what will suit my needs best in my price range. I would rather wait and get something more suited to my needs then just pick the best of what's available.
11My first laptop was a dell and it lasted five years before i finally realized that i had a dinosaur ( in weight and processing speed). I thought about getting a mac but i was never a mac lover. My hp pavilion is my perfect match. I almost past over hp ,for a vaio, but i got everything i wanted and a better price. Not only do i like working with it but its also pretty to me. I like vista and havent any problems ever since i turned off the user acct control questions.
