No product is recession proof, but it's interesting to know that the economy had not yet affected sales of high-end cameras known as SLRs (which stands for single-reflex lens, FYI). Until now, that is — analysts are predicting that SLRs are also about to see an economy-induced drop in sales.
Bad news aside, let's focus on the product at hand — fabulous SLRs. I have a Canon digital SLR, and have always thought of someone's first SLR as a signal of their coming into a serious interest in photography, since you can achieve the kind of quality and artful results you just can't get with any point and shoot camera. And once you convert? You're hooked, and it's new lens and photography tip hunting for you.
So whether it's a vintage film SLR or a modern digital SLR, tell me: do you have an SLR?

I wish.
1Nope, they're way too expensive! I want one though, it'd be a big help for my food blog!
2Nope. I wish. I really want one..the types of pictures you could take with an SLR are endless... *dreamy-eyed* But I just settled for a Panasonic Lumix TZ5S. (I really wanted the Panasonic LX3S.... *looooove*)
3I have one! I love it. I'm a photo student and its kinda a must. I think everyone in my classes have one.
4I have a Canon Rebel Xsi
5Yes, I am drooling over the new canon rebel that comes out next month, it has video too.
6Nope don't have one. I just got a Panasonic Lumix LX3S. LOVE IT!!!!! It has lots more settings and controls than your average point and shoot, but not as big as a DSLR. The LX3 is a nice compromise between a point and shoot and a DSLR.
7I'm getting one soon, I'm so excited! Any recommendations? I was planning on the xsi, but I think I might wait out for the new t1i.
8yes i have one! it's my baby!
9Just got Canon 50D with 17-85 Ultrasonic lens! and I am in LOVE! Used to have Canon rebel xi
10we have two olympus digital slrs and one broken film slr.
11I got a canon film one... but I would die for a digital (way too expensive for me
)
12No, but my fiance and I are considering getting one for our honeymoon, which will be a camping trip across America. Any suggestions?
13I would recommend the Canon T1i. I love my rebel and this is a great next step. I am hoping to sell my Rebel XT and upgrade to this one soon.
14I love my film SLRs. (: Pentax ME Super, Canon tLB and a Zenit 122s.
15no, i WISH!! ive got a great digital camera, but it doesnt do the justice of an SLR
16Yes yes YES and it's one of my most beloved posessions! Best $$$ I ever spent on a hobby.
*loves her trusty Canon EOS 30D*
17Yes indeed. Canon Rebel XT. I have an old 35mm film Pentax too. My minor is photography, so I'd have a tough time if I didn't have one.
18One of my photo buddies just got a Canon 5D Mark II. Lucky her!
Love my Nikon D80....FABULOUS!
19I have a paradoxical camera...it's a film SLR, but it's completely automatic. Really disappointing.
20I am hunting for one but I think I would need 2 digital to replace my 1 lost one a few years ago. I have only a loan one now on occasion. I think Nikon is coming out with a reasonable priced one: Nikon D5000 DSLR: 12.3 MP: http://i.gizmodo.com/5210850/nikon-d5000-dslr-123-mp-720p-hd-video-and-swivel-screen-for-850...
21my fav would be the Sony Alpha, which is good price for the value for DSLR, if ppl give it a try.
@amloveaffair: did u consider a rental camera place or is there one at where u reside? Be forewarn, rentals aren't very cheap either, but at least if u do it for a week, its a whole lot more reasonable.
22Unfortunately, no. I was lucky my mom was willing to drop the $150 on my little 7.2 megapixel digital camera she got me for my 21st birthday as is! I love my camera, and while it doesn't take the kinds of amazing photographs that SLR's can, I think I'll live
23No, however I would desperately like a Canon Rebel. Those SLR's are amazing. Right now I have to make due with my point & shoot(s.)
24Yes. Nikon. Get Nikon people!
I love it. I got it as a present for my bday last year and use it SO much. Well worth the investment, imo.
25No, but I really want a Nikon D60. But, I cant bring myself to shell out the money for it.
26gonna be buying one soon enough. Either a sony or a nikon, I reckon.
27I don't have one but really want one. Maybe prices will start to drop and I'll be able to pick one up.
28I have a Sony A200 and people really should give Sony's SLRs more credit than they do, I love it!
29I have a canon rebel but barely know how to work it. I mean, I can take basic pictures on it, but I want to learn how to take really fabulous pictures.
30Yes, I just got one yesterday! I've been drooling over my husbands for a while, and after using his during our honeymoon and getting such raves about the photos (and knowing that they wouldn't have been half as good with my old Kodak, I finally got one for myself. I got the Nikon D80, they have smoking good deals on them since they've been discontinued (if you can find one instores), so pick it up while you can!
31I have 2, one digital and one 35mm.
32I'm hoping for one in the very near future.
33I really would like to get one
(
34Nikon D60 & Nikon D90
35i LOVE them
i just got an infrared remote
& am stenciling out my friends flash tool
which cost him $130 AUD and i can easily make for less that $10
with mound board, coloured plastic sheets, silver&gold cardboard and some frosted plastic
NEXT big spend is on a bigger lens which will probably cost me as much as the cameras...
I still have my film SLR and a couple of DSLRs.
36love my d80, thinking of upgrading to d300! got to save up!
nikon and canon, i recommend. the lens selection is to no end, and inclusive of 3rd party lenses.
i've tried sony as well, it's alright i guess, but it's too 'light' for me...am afraid that it'll fly off my hands.
37yeah, I got one but it stays in the camera bag most of the time cause film & developing is way too expensive. Plus, who wants other people looking at your private photos when you get them developed at a store.
38No, but I WANT ONE!
39WE HAVE THE CANON XT AND THE CANON XS AND ALSO HAVE THE FUJI S9000 IT IS ALSO A AWESOME CAMERA BUT I LOVE MY CANONS THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST. BUT I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A NIKON I AM THINKING THE D90 BUT I ALSO WANT THE NEW CANON WITH MOVIE MODE BUT I THINK I CAN LIVE WITH OUT CONSIDERING MY FUJI HAS VIDEO MODE
