Lately it seems like everyone is rushing to get a netbook out of the gates (even though Apple's foray has thus far only been a hoax). Now, AT&T has a plan to offer $50 netbooks with two-year contracts.
Mighty tempting indeed, especially when you see that rainbow of Dell Minis!
I personally waffle about netbooks — I love them, especially the idea of them, but I don't know that I'd buy one for myself. See, I feel that I always have my regular laptop on me, and would never switch it up to travel with a netbook (trust me, I need my Pro), and if I did want something small, I'd use my iPhone.
That said, I recommend them all over the place to my friends, when someone mainly wants something to surf the Internet on. Will I ever get one? Practicality says no, love of gadgets says yes.
What about you — do you have a netbook, or if not, do you have plans to buy one in the near future?

I first had a Dell mini 9 in white with Ubuntu, but I needed the windows compatability. I returned it and got a HP mini 1000. Love it!!!
1i wanted a netbook until i received my iPod Touch for Christmas. I use that for the same things i would have purchased a netbook.
2No, I don't want a netbook. I want a new laptop. *sigh*
3Sorta. I was really fascinated by UMPCs when they first came out----small like a Kindle, but way more powerful. But then the tech never really caught on (it went smaller to smartphones and bigger with netbooks). Maybe an ASUS tablet would do the trick.
4I have the Mini 1000 series in blk. I bought it to mostly use it for work since I normally work on a MAC and it's not so easy to jump on my work network with it. I love it! I'm going to order a skin for it for extra protection. I may just use this as my primary computer from now on.
5Nope... I like my MacBook Pro just fine.
6Peas0009- I got the mini sleeve on sale on the HP site. I thought about getting a skin too, but I just love the swirly pattern.
7Nope. I've got my Macbook and my iPhone, that's all I need.
8I definitley want one.
9I kind of feel like that's what my iPhone is for, so no, I don't want one.
10I love my Acer Aspire One!
11As someone who has NO Apple products at all: no iPhone, no iPod, no Macbook or Pro or anything I needed something that I could take around with me to photo shoots to view pictures with clients immediately after a job (using Windows RAW viewer not Bridge or Lightroom). But since I can't afford (and no one who would buy me such things can either) anything Apple, I opted for the Acer Aspire One in blue with XP and it is the greatest thing ever! It's the best investment I made after my Canon 5D. I LOVE IT. And a bonus, the Aspire has a webcam and mic so when I am in NJ for a shoot I can Skype with my boyfriend in PA. Great investment!
12i just got a macbook aluminum 13" so im good to go until like idk im out of college cuz im only in 8th grade haha
13I HATE my bf's old powerbook
It's seriously on its last legs these days. Poor
thing.
But I DO love my pink MSI Wind. I have a desktop I built myself, but I'm so in love with my Wind that I use it ALL the time... even at home. Plus, it's so small, I have no excuse to not bring it out with me to do my work.
14My clunky old hand-me-down Dell laptop is way too heavy for me to bring to college every day (I MUST have Internet access at all times), so I'll definitely be getting a netbook by the next semester.
15I bought myself an HP Mini 1035NR in the middle of February and I absolutely adore it. As a student, I bring it to lecture with me and it's lightweight enough that I can throw it in my purse and not have it weight me down. As a commuter, it's great to pull out on public transit to jot down notes for my blog, stories, or various academic papers. Although I do have both a full-size PC and a 15.4" HP laptop, I still find my netbook incredibly useful.
16Reeaallly reeeaally want one. Specifically the Dell.
17Definitely, positively want one really really bad. Hoping to get one before I start back to college in the fall. It's much cheaper than a laptop (though if I could afford one I would probably buy that over a netbook), and lighter so it'll be easier to heft around campus.
18I have an HP Mini 1000 that I bought for traveling. I debated buying a Macbook but realized that I only ever check my mail, Google Maps, and a few other websites while traveling, which made the price point a little high. That exact thing is what makes the netbook perfect. They're cheap and perfect for light computing. As a programmer I appreciate the importance of a powerful machine, but I'd bet most people don't need much more than a netbook while on the go.
19I just sold my Black Macbook 2.4 GHZ for an Asus 1000he. Believe or not, this little netbook rocks. Did I mention 8.5 hours of battery life, sure beats the 3 hours with the Macbook.
20I love, love, love the Dell mini 9 I received as a Christmas gift. I take it with me when I travel using it for basics like email, skype, and websurfing. It fits in my purse and I can't rave enough about it.
21I have a white acer aspire one netbook. Love it! It's my little jewel!!!!
