I know most of you still use home printers, so listen up — recycling those empty printer cartridges has just gotten a whole lot easier thanks to HP and Walgreens! Last week I purchased a new HP cartridge and included in the box was a little envelope (postage paid) for me to mail away my old cartridge for recycling. And then after a quick trip to Walgreens, I noticed on my bag that Walgreens has a printer cartridge recycling program where you just take your empty cartridge to the photo counter for recycling — how great is that?! And if you have an old HP cartridge but didn't get an envelope with your new one, you can order one here.

Even better take them to Staples, and they will give you a $3 credit in Staples cash. (Whether you bought it there or not)
1yeah i think office depot lets you take a few buck off a new cartridge when you give them the old one.
2Lexmark has a program where you can order return envelopes and mail your cartridges back. Each one you mail back gives you credit towards a free cartridge.
3My partner works at a printer cartridge refill company - those cartridges can be refilled up to 15 times, sometimes more depending on the cartridge. We save so much money now.
4Staples is also an authorized location for HP’s Planet Partners print cartridge collection and recycling program. Little known fact – HP has been recycling cartridges since 1991 and has collected more than 265 million cartridges since then. But, we couldn’t do it without customer participation – which jumped by 25 percent from 2007 to 2008. So, keep ‘em coming! - Thom Brown HP
Ever wonder how print cartridges are recycled? Check out a recent tour of HP’s inkjet cartridge recycling facility, located in Nashville, TN. http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/2009/03/inside_hps_ink...
5Staples now only pays for up to 10 cartridges a month. I use Planet Green Recycling. They are awesome and pay for shipping and pay up to $5 for some inkjets. www.planetgreenrecycle.com
6If you want to support a good cause and have empty cartridges back home I suggest you to hand them over to a fundraising program. They are always in great need of money and need those extra dollars.
Some listed cartridge fundraising programs can be found at http://www.inkguides.com/ink-toner-cartridge-recycling.asp#non-cash-recy... (you will also find non-charity programs listed in the article as well)
