Remember that time I reminded you to tag yourself on Facebook and many of you said that you often deliberately did not tag yourself, or sometimes even untagged yourself?
Well, a new Facebook app by Face.com uses face-recognition technology to identify photos of your contacts on Facebook.
It searches tagged and untagged photos, which is cool if you're the one looking, but if you've ever untagged an embarrassing photo of yourself that one of your friends has posted, your contacts will be able to find it and see it using this app.
Hopefully there aren't too many blackmail-worthy photos of you online!

Greaaaaaaaaat. So my 2 hours of untagging a few weekends ago to reduce my "online presence" meant nothing.
1Ugh, is there no privacy left in this world?
2What about those of us who love to untag unflattering photos?! Yikes.
3I'm a little freaked out about this. It's not like I have humiliating pictures on facebook of me, but this doesn't sit well. Another thing I don't have control of. What am I suppose to do? Message every friend that might have a picture of me and tell them to take it down?
4that sucks. why did they feel the need to create this app? does it allow us to block the app like the rest of those annoying apps? i purposefully untag my photos because people don't have sense and put up pictures without my permission or that i don't want people to see.
5Hi, this is Gil, the CEO of Face.com. I wanted to weigh in here and clarify a couple things. When we discover a photo of a friend, it's always a photo you already have access to, and our search is limited to friends only. The tags we'll suggest only appear in Photo Finder (our app) not in the main Facebook photo tool, and we'll message the person who's getting the tag (and only that person), so you have a chance to say "please hide this tag". For those of you who've already un-tagged, sorry to create any extra work
but we think we'll also help you find photos of yourself (or friends) that you didn't know
were there. If anyone has more questions, please feel free to visit our blog at blog.face.com, or email me directly at gil@face.com
6if you untag yourself in a picture it won't let anyone else "re-tag" you...they'll get a message saying that the person has untagged themselves and only that person can re-tag themselves...
7Hey, that IS Elinor! She's my friend and former neighbor!
