We may scoff at how much some families pay for their kids' text message bills or the cloudy texting etiquette, or lack there of, which has infiltrated our culture, but at least we have the right to text whatever we want. Apparently, Malaysia's Deputy Minister for Energy, Water and Communications recently announced that mobile phone users caught sending obscene messages and pictures could face prosecution with fines of $15,000 and up to one year in jail.
According to Computerworld Malaysia the issue came up in response to a question in parliament in May, and sadly not a saucy dirty-text message scandal involving the Deputy Minister.
At least I know JT can still text me whatever he wants.

That seems too harsh. Definite invasion of privacy. Text messaging is innocent- it's not like you're broadcasting it to the country.
1That's so ridiculous! How would they even catch someone who did it?
2Uptight much?
3This is one of the most stupid shizzz I'd heard....
4If people are paying for text messages they should be allow to do whatever they want....
Oh please...it's not America! what they want to do with their country or government is for their own ppl to decide and live with, texting sexy stuff or whatever ppl can do without it's not gonna kill them not doing it, so who cares, there are more important things than not being allowed to send sexy/dirty talking texts, you can still call your sweetie or go home and talk sexy/dirty to them if you cant do without saying such things...no big deal!
5Malaysia's government worries me. It's impossing their moral laws on everyone, regardless of their religion and that can't be a good thing.
6thanks for this! i'm visiting malaysia soon and though i hope not to get any, at least i'm aware.
7Ouch
