Even if you don't plan to take yours to the top of Mount Everest, buying a tough and rugged digital camera is a good investment. Cameras that are built to last, will last! Try Olympus, who has some pretty indestructible models (one even has the word "tough" in its name!), or even Canon's new PowerShot for a bit more color.
I definitely need to invest in one of these. I have a rather large P&S camera which is great for parties, not so much for going out hiking and other more active pursuits.
