Yuuuuck is what I say to my iPhone screen every few days, at the buildup of fingerprints and smudges (that slick glass is illuminating for how much makeup comes off on your cell phones). I wipe it, buff it, and occasionally take a damp cloth to it, thinking about the germs.
But that's not all. You want to talk gross? Anyone else got a keyboard whose keys used to be pristine white? Yeah, not so much anymore (check out my tips for how to get it clean again). And thinking about sneezing and coughing in cold season while putting my hand that was politely covering my own mouth back onto my mouse and I get the automatic heeby jeebies. One large canister of wipes, please!
I've got to wipe and clean my gadgets regularly, otherwise my imagination runs wild with images of nasty little animated germs on the items I put to my face and in my hands. Writing this, I'm compelled to reach for another wipe as well!
What about you? Do you clean your gadgets regularly, or am I just a clean freak?

I usually just wipe my cell phone with a moist cloth every now and then. If I have those disinfecting wipes, I'll use those insetad.
1I use an alcohol swab to clean off my cell phone whenever I think of it, usually once a month... I should do it more often.
2Teehee Geek you're crazy!! I agree though; I read somewhere that keyboards accumulate germs more than a toilet. Eeew. But I do swipe my poor keys with some alcohol from time to time.

4I never use disinfecting wipes or anything... The most I do is wipe with a damp cloth if anything is exceptionally smudged or dirty. *shrug* I don't get sick all that often.
5I think that's typical american to be so afraid of germs. Scientifists have proven that actually the people who are exposed most to gems are the healthiest, since the germs build up their immun system. So no, I don't really care for germs and clean my gadgets only if the look dirty.
6I haven't cleaned my phone in God knows how long.
But it's rubberized on the outside, the inside is solid and a quick rub will do the rest. I also don't let sick people anywhere near my phone, and I don't use it much if I'm coughing or sneezing. That's what will get you sick.
I do clean my Macbook, just to get the smudges off, not for germs.
7the makeup on my cellphone annoys me so im always cleaning it--but as for my macbook---NEVER EVER GETTING WHITE AGAIN! i obsessively clean, and its never good enough! i cant wait to upgrade and get rid of these white keys (but i guess it does mean my comp is always clean!!)
8I Windex my touch screen phone regularly, as well as swab with alcohol. I am a teensy-weensy bit OCD, though; is that overkill?
9Windex is not for tvs, computer screens, or phones. Bad idea. There are brands out there that sell wipes and sprays (to use with a micro-chamois cloth) designed for this. If you are using a spray, never spray the gadget (or tv, screen etc) directly. Spray the cloth then use it to clean.

11I use those cloth wipes that are meant to clean reading glasses with. im to scared to use any chemicals because it might damage the touch screen.
12No but I'm going to! The screen protector from my LG Viewty somehow peeled off and the smudges are so irritating. And not only that but I've got this hairline scratch on the screen now too
... gotta buy a new screen protector.

15i take my iphone out of its case and wipe it down with iklear every week and my macbook as well hehe
my bestfriend got her macbook about a year and a half after i did and hands-down mine is in waaay better condition than hers because she never cleans it! her keyboard is just
icky!

22I clean my gadgets not because of germs, but because I am in iraq, and dust gets everywhere and I want everything to last at least till my tour is done. I just got back from leave and when I got home, I got about a pound of dirt out of my computer...its bad
