Yesterday, one of the big tech news stories came from Amazon, who announced the launch of a Kindle app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. For iPhone owners who don't have the $360 to splurge for a new Kindle 2, there was certainly a sign of relief that something exists (a free something) which will allow them to read on the go without having to lug books around.
Also, for the total techies, the Kindle iPhone app comes with Whispersync so you can easily switch between your Kindle and your iPhone, without losing your reading location.
What won me over was the fact that you can adjust text size, because I couldn't imagine struggling to read the words if it showed the entire page. But still, I don't think I could read an entire book on my iPhone. But then again, I've never given it a try, so maybe I could? Where you do you stand on this topic?

I have Stanza, a free app that lets you read full books on your iphone. The books I read are all classics so they're free (I guess they're in the public domain). I've read The Great Gatsby and 1984 in their entirety on my iphone. I'm currently working on Emma. The Kindle app seems like a great idea for getting more current books, but if I had to pay full price for the digital books, I'd rather get the paper copy and stick to classics on my iphone.
1I just bought an iPhone last week after having a Blackberry for 6 years. The iPhone is so much better! Yesterday I downloaded my first few games, and the kids loved JigSee, which lets you take a picture from the iPhone camera and turn it into a jigsaw puzzle game. But I will be getting this Kindle app right now!!!
2why is there never just a flat out NO option. i have an iPhone, but i wouldn't want to read a book on an electronic device.
3i just came here to say, good choice of book in the picture. a pultizer, nice.
4I was using Stanza and have read a few books. I downloaded Kindle and bought a book yesterday. I have no problem reading stuff on my iPhone and will probably use the Kindle a lot.
5i'm up for it i guess
6If I had an iPhone, I would try this app. Or if I had a Kindle.... *sigh*
7I think I might give it a whirl.
8I downloaded the app yesterday and I have already read two books on it ~Twilight & New Moon. And I will probably purchase the other two books tonight.
9This would be great for the subway and train!
10Considering I spend most of my work day reading stuff of a screen ... I would like to have the leisure of not staring at another screen when I'm reading for pleasure.
11i do read from it sometimes but they have to work on the font size and on the fact that if u dont touch the screen it goes black
12I have a blackberry so this doesn't apply to me but I like the idea of reading from a book. I spend enough time looking at a screen.
13Nope, and I honestly don't see myself ever trying. I heart books. You know, actual, real books.
14Nooooo. I like the tangibility of a book! I could not read an entire book on a little iphone!
15I had stanza and find I don't have time to read books anymore. How sad is that? Books are becoming obselete...
16I love reading actual books, but it is nice to have a bunch of books on my iPod Touch. I went on a trip this past weekend and I read a lot on my iPod. I've finished quite a few books already! I couldn't have packed all those books in my carry-on.
Stanza is a must-have app. Even more amazing is the desktop app that lets you wirelessly upload any kind of document to your iPod.
17I am very pro reading books via actual books but it was nice to try out stanza yesterday when I was waiting at CVS for my prescription and began reading the curious case of benjamin button for free. I would never buy a Kindle though.
18I would prefer Readdle over Kindle for iPhone - with Kindle, you are limited while Readdle lets you view any document in a bunch of formats
