At right is an image from this month's Harper's Bazaar featuring Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. Beautiful home, beautiful woman, and she appears to know it: She has a portrait of herself above her bed, and to my surprise, a rather glam digital portrait of herself on her computer's desktop, seen here.
I have put photos of myself and other people on my desktop, but I don't think I would like to see a picture of myself gazing sexily at me when I'm using my computer. But maybe it's a good affirmation for some — or is it overblown narcissism?
Do you ever put pictures of just yourself on your desktop?

Maybe she just did it for the magazine? I don't watch the show though, so I don't really know how she is. My husband and I do have pictures of ourselves around the house though. Not professional ones (ala Juno) just ones from vacations.
1The desktop background in my coputer is reserved for pictures of my baby niece
..
2Nope - I do put photos of my son and my husband on there or digital scrapbook type backgrounds *I've* created, but not photos.
3lmao that's hilarious! I would never.
And it's not even
some complex I just prefer to put some kind of vector art wallpaper on my desktop, or if I had to choose I'd pick a fun picture with friends or a landscape. Even if it was for a magazine
spread that's still pretty silly to me.
4I used to do fun photos of me and the bf in high school... but it has been years since my face was on my desktop
5No way LOL. A little self-esteem goes a long way, but let's not get crazy.
6not one of JUST me, no... if its me and some friends, then yes, by all means... me alone? thats just too cheeseball
7Yeah I Put My Own Pic.
8Hell yeah I do! I don't really have pictures of myself anywhere else...and what better way to show love for yourself?
9that's a little conceited for me
10I have some really artistic shots of myself that I've put up... but none of them are of my face- haha.
A friend took this really lovely black and white picture of my feet and I used that for a while... And there's also one of me from behind walking down the street that I considered using (but it didn't stay up for more than a day)...
I dunno. I kinda feel that's a little different since I would have used them if they were of other people to. It wasn't because they were of me that I used them... if that makes sense. I guess seeing my face staring at me when I got on my computer would be too weird... Haha.
11i have my pic (self portrait) on my desktop and love it. someone tried to take my laptop at starbucks once and that pic was proof. haha. plus i like the picture and when i see it i smile because it's a really nice pic!
12I change my desktop background pretty often, but just the other day I put a collage of pictures of hubby and I that we took the other day. Looks great
13I've used pictures of my fiance and I, but I can't say I've ever put up a picture of just me. I suppose that I'd feel a little weird about a glamour shot of myself on my desktop, but I think ultimately it depends on the type of picture. I think in most cases, I'd have to say no to pictures of myself.
14nope
15I have pictures of my cat on my background
16I wouldn't put myself on there. It would be weird to have myself staring at me.
You are sorely mistaken!!! PLEASE NOTE the caption on the photo says "Lakshmi's assistant, Shayna, uses a shot she took for her boss's jewelry line as her screen saver.
17The article clearly states that her assistant has an office in her home. Please stop being negative and stupid.
Putting a picture of yourself as your desktop background, I think we would call that Self-Obsession. haha, although i do know some people who put pictures of their selves as their phone background, it's like yeah, your pretty and that's a cute pic. but as your background? seriously?. Personally I don't get how someone could be so infatuated with them to stare at themselves whenever they log on the computer or open their phone, its crazy!
18i wouldn't do it because it's me, but i might do it if i had an artistic picture of me that i really liked for the picture. but i'd probably think twice even then...
