I'm all about playing digital music at home, be it from my computer, my iPhone, or my TV. A fair amount of my friends own record players though, and will spin that when hanging out at home.
And I haven't played a CD in years, but that's how my mom gets the party started.
Tell me, when you're playing music at home for a party or your own enjoyment, what format do you use? Are you a digital devotee or a vintage tech geek?

Nike
Armani Jeans
Hush Puppies
Either from my computer or iPod.
1I have a large stereo that I just can't get rid of that plays CDs - so, because the sound is better, I usually play music that way. I'll be moving to my iPod once I hook up the Evolve stereo speakers to the old stereo, and to my SoundSticks II system [which I bought for my computer] - MAXIMUM music experience!
When I first find new music, I play it on my Mac until I can move it to the iPod or to a CD for the old stereo.
When I'm out and about, then it's the iPod.
2All of the above. We have an extensive music library that includes digital, CD and records.
3I play my music off my iMac and sometimes I play records.
4my itunes or ill use one of those galaxy stations on my dish
5I listen from my computer, ipod, cd's, and record player.
6I use my Xbox 360 to listen to my MP4, which I hook up to it. It's really cool. It is like an iDog, but it's an Xbox 360 and a TV. Ha ha ha
7I have an AppleTV unit hooked up to my home theatre system. It syncs to my iMac from a network account that resides on a Mac OS X Server in the basement. The same account is used to sync all the family iPods. That way, all the storage is centralized.
8I have a great stereo with iPod dock, so I use my iPod and iPhone for that. I use my iMac when I'm in my room. Haven't listened to CDs in over a year.
9Pandora!
10iTunes and iPhone
11Record player and computer.
12Just a cheap boom box-type dock for my iPod. I only use it while I'm cooking or cleaning.
13For me, it's all about this giant Sony stereo I got in ~2003, so it does mp3 cd playback, but doesn't talk to USB mass storage. What it does have is RCA inputs (incl. composite video passthrough), so I use an old RCA switcher box, plugging iPod dock, laptop (using a 3.5 to white/red splitter out of the headphone jack on my laptop dock), PS3, and now my new XBox into it. In the end, I can play music on any of those, or on the stereo itself (which doesn't happen much, since my cat screwed up the 3-disc tray by shedding hair on it).
Why all this complexity, though? I'm a student, in a dorm room, so space is at a premium - between the RCA switchery and a 17" HD combination tv/monitor, I have good video and audio for everything without using too much space (my cables are a medusa, though).
One cool trick for playing music on any of these is that any Windows-equipped computer can easily stream media to both the PS3 and Xbox - you just have to keep Windows Media Player open and network them. (I personally use iTunes to listen to music on my computer, but recent WMP versions have a really really good media library hook-in - you can set it to automatically monitor your music folder and it will tag and find art for the music therein: don't worry about updating it or anything. I moved music across three hard disks and into one folder a few days ago, so *nothing* was in the same place, and it worked just fine the next time I opened it.) As a result, if you have all your music on your computer in one room and a game console in the AV center, you can just stream from one to the other - no fuss, no mess.
14Mostly from my mp3 player--docked or plugged into speakers in the bedroom--or one of the music channels on digital tv, but I sometimes stream a radio station I like from LA on my laptop.
15Pandora is the best.
16The majority of the time it's at my computer. I might use my iPod every now and then, and sometimes CDs.
17I use my computer, phone, CD player, record player, and television to play music at home.
18I tend to use my computer, either with the things on my computer. If I want to listen to music not on my library, I use Grooveshark or Musicovery.
19Oops reminder to never post late at night, I tend to forget what I've said and repeat myself.....
20From my iPod which is docked on my Boss Sounddock
21At home we always play music off of my imac. It's pretty sweet, though I do make mixed cd's and play them in my car
22I play music in my laptop and when we have a party, we hook up my laptop to the stereo (it has a USB connection) and then we can even make karaoke!
23I've got a surround sound hooked up to my PC and I put it to good use.
24I used lots of different stuff, mostly computer and iPod. :]
25i use my ipod and computer
26mostly my computer because it's so convenient but i also play from my iPod. i don't listen to or buy cd's anymore.
27My ipod (headphones or docked) or my computer.
28I still listen to CD's when I'm in my car since they're better quality then listening through my ipod.
i just recently bought one of those speaker systems that you can connect your ipod in, so im all about that now
29Radio
30For Christmas, I got this stereo (www.amazon.com/Sony-CMTBX5BT-Component-Bluetooth-Technology/dp/B000MSQ8Y...)
It has bluetooth, so I play music from my laptop (like Pandora) through the stereo.
Or we listen to MP3s or CDs on the stereo.
I love it!
31Mainly my iPod but sometimes cd's or my laptop.
32Sometimes my ipod via a dock connected to my stereo. Sometimes just right off the computer. Other times, via our XBOX 360. It depends on where/how loud we want the music.
33I listen to what I've downloaded on Itunes, or I listen to internet radio (no dreaded commercials).
