Whimsical and sentimental, I Used to Believe is a collaborative website where people post what their childhood misconceptions and beliefs were.
Posts range from funny kid stuff — like what tapioca eyes really were, where babies came from — to the philosophical and surreal, like the thought that the world didn't exist unless you were looking. That last one for me is one of my childhood beliefs as well; in fact, it's not uncommon to cruise around the site reading entries and going, "me too!"

That is cute. I just read one on there about birthdays and having magical cakes that made you age a year.
We heard a little boy this weekend yell loudly to his friends, "I'm 11, but I'm turning a year older this year." As if that were special.
1Too cute. I used to believe that the straight ahead arrow on road signs meant we were about to start driving straight up. Yeah, I was a goofy kid.
2I posted mine.
I used to believe that if you spoke while driving past a graveyard
that Frankenstein will come after you.
3I just read this one "When I was little, I used to love the Wizard of Oz. My favorite part was when they would sing "Cosby, Cosby, Cosby, Cosby, Cosby..... Because of the wonderful things he does!" How great it was that the munchkins loved the Cosby Show just much as I did!" haha cute
4I remember seeing this site back in 2003. Cute.
