In an effort to educate people about energy-saving tips, the Department of Energy has a new website (Lose Your Excuse) and a couple of new, cute commercials with kids demonstrating the facts, like this one, where the young April gets caught in the old "I don't have a cell phone" lie. Oh, and hopefully you already knew the tip — that keeping your cell phone charger plugged in, even not charging, is using energy.

1I don't know how I feel about the message behind this. Individual conservation is all well and good, but if we're going to truly address this issue - it's going to have to focus on the economic forces behind our wasteful energy choices.
Still, really cute commercial.
