I've been all over the Sony Vaio P since its unveiling at CES this year. It's hot, but I do have my qualms. First off is the price. I know Sony's been telling us not to call it a netbook, but seriously after taking in the size, weight, and specs, the resemblance is there. Why its price starts at hundreds more than other ultra portables in its class is beyond me. So when Sony rolled out a $200 rebate on the Vaio P series notebook yesterday, I admit I was a bit surprised.

Yup, Sony is already slashing the price of the Vaio P, and it hasn't even hit the shelves yet! But as you may have thought, there is a catch: the rebate is given exclusively through Verizon when you sign up for a two year mobile-broadband subscription, you know, since that is the only network you can get your speedy 3G access from. This rebate will most likely cover (or partially cover) the cost of your broadband subscription through Verizon.

I just don't think this is for me.
1i absolutely love the vaio p and i hope to get one. unfortunately, it's the price which is holding me back. here in the uk it costs £849.00 (for the low spec model) which i think is ridiculous.
2omg it only costs £624 in the US!!! how unfair is that?!?
3I am living in Japan now and the sony P is already out.
4The screen is just WAY too small. Yeah it is cute and I can put it in a small handbag but for over 50000 yen, I don't need the eye strain.
I think I'll pass. As nice looking as it is I'll stick with my much cheaper Asus netbook
