No matter how the Mac and PC war rages (though it's been a little quiet of late, no?), we all know which side we're each on.

Sometimes the preference grows out of having a bad experience on one platform, and then switching to the other side to discover something that makes more sense to you, but often many of us grow up staunchly Mac or PC, never pausing to try out the other.
I was a converter; though I used my family's Apple as a kid, for years I bounced around different PCs, like my old Compaq and Dell. In recent years, though, Mac has been my one and only.
Tell me; have you always been PC or Mac, or did you make the switch at some point to be where you are now?

Geek, I think the first 2 choices mean the same thing. Or am I going crazy?? Haha
1Oh geez, the first two ARE the same! I had to read it like 5 times to get it. @_@
But no, I switched from a PC to a Mac. I went through 3 PC laptops in year because they failed for various manufacturing reasons. I decided that the money I would spend on three more PC laptops in the next year would be better invested in a Mac for at least 3 years. And I was right!
[I messed up my older Mac of 4 years on accident so that I had to buy a new one, though...could have gotten a BIT more mileage out of it - such a shame!]
2I don't have anything against Mac but I always bought PC
3Honestly, I can see the merits of both. I've mainly worked with PCs but I recently re-involved myself with Macs. So, I love 'em both. Is that weird?
4I always wanted a Mac, but due to certain circumstances (having PC techs in the family who gave us hand-me-downs) didn't switch until we had purchased our second PC and were very unhappy with the malfunctions after only a few months. Since we switched, we've purchased two more Mac laptops and have never looked back. Yes, they cost more, but not having to do repairs every few months, or the downtime because the PC has crashed yet again has been totally worth it. Not to mention, the original iBook we purchased is still going strong.
5Lol. I think Geek's trying to tell us something.
Sometimes being on here makes me want to switch to a friggin Mac, but I don't know. I've used PC's all my life. I only got my hands on a Mac once (school library) and it was a very confusing experience, so I thought what's the point in switching if PCs never gave me trouble before?
Haha besides my friends clamoring it's superior. If anything think they're more stylish but I'll stick to my beloved Compaq for now.
6*or inferior? Confusion ;_;
7PC girl
8Mac girl - our first family computer was a Mac, and my most recent computer has been a Mac. I had a PC laptop in there - there were definitely some great aspects to using it, but I'm just more comfortable on an Apple. To each his own!
9My family has owned PCs, but I used Macs in school when I was younger. Then, in college, I became a printer technician where we used a mix of Macs and PCs, and I lusted after a Titanium. Within the past two weeks, I have gotten a brand new iMac in my classroom at school, and I am totally infatuated! I have a Dell laptop that is about a year and a half old and I'm thinking that when it dies (or I decide it's time to upgrade) I might just have to go with a MacBook.
10PC. I've never used a Mac. I'm not adverse to it, but I would just like to use one before I actually bought one. That and my laptop has been doing great for 7 years.
11I'd had a PC, but got a Mac when my PC laptop crashed. I have the black MacBook, and I can honestly say, I have never used a better computer. So user friendly--it practically set itself up. It only took me about an hour to learn everything I needed to know, and I know I'll never go back. Plus, it helps that I have a Mac, iPhone, and three iPods. I guess I'm a Mac girl!
12I'm not sure what I actually voted for, since the wording is weird. Lol! But anywho, my family's first computer was a Mac when I was little, but we eventually switched to PCs. Then two years ago I bought my Macbook, and I'm never looking back.
I have been using Macs for 6
years though, ever since I started high school, because that's what we had in school and we used them for my graphic design classes.
13I went from Macintosh in the early 90s to red hat linux to Mac again in '97. My dad was a big linux fanatic, so I used it as a kid. I didn't even use Windows until high school.
14My family switched to mac when I was like 10 or something, and we've never looked back! I mean, why would we want to go back to heaps of viruses and reliability issues? haha.
15I bought a mac two years ago and am heading back to PC this tax season (I have a pc desktop). I love the look of macs, but really, the world is still pc based (including my job, so I can't use a mac for that).
16I have always used a PC...my husband works for a contractor for Microsoft and has always liked Microsoft, so even if I wanted to switch, I wouldn't...lol.
17Nobody EVER switches from PC to MAC. OF COURSE the first two choices are the same; the other way around would be ABSURD!
18Growing up my parents had pcs mostly because they're computer illiterate and windows is the most commonly used system. Haha I've always wanted a Mac for as long as I can remember and when I went to college Mac was my choice of laptop and I'm never looking back. My children will grow up with Macs because I will never buy another PC.
19Oh and yes. The first two choices are saying the same thing. I read it multiple times making sure I voted for the right thing but essentially it wouldn't matter because they're both making the same statement.
20I've used a PC for almost all my life until about a year ago when I decided to buy a new computer and tried out a Macbook. I have converted over to the Macs.
21I've used both systems extensively, but prefer PCs. Macs are pretty and user-friendly, but I need the customization and power that one can only get with a PC (you can't really build your own Mac). I haven't had a virus or crash in years - it's all about the user.
22My first computer was an AppleIIc and that lasted me from 8th grade till my senior year in college. Granted by that time it was a glorified typewriter, but still - I could play Oregon Trail!! I had a few Toshiba laptops on there and then a no name brand laptop and finally found my way back to Apple w/my MBP. Once I went Mac, I doubt I'll go back! Although I'm also a fan of Linux!
23I had a PC, then switched to the Mac about 3ish years ago. Like it a lot =) I am curious about Linux too ^^
24I was so tired of my pc not working and having to have it fixed, that when it just died one day I had had enough and went out and bought an imac. I will never go back! Though, I still use a pc at work and my boyfriend has a pc and swears by them, so to each their own!
25In my opinion, Macs are useless. And yes, I've tried them, and even after getting to know how to use it it was just awful. Someone I know has a MacBookPro, and thought it would be great because of how much people love them, but they're going to trade it for a PC because it is just not good for anything professional. So, everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferences, but even though I've tried to see Macs from the other point of view, I just don't get it.
26I don't really understand all the hype about the macbook... isn't it just another computer/laptop/whatever?
27had a PC for a long time because it did what I needed. Would have liked linux, but it really isn't ready for the desk top. Yeah, geeks might say it is, but it isn't quite there yet. When I learned that the latest Mac OS was unix under the hood, I was all over it. Love it to bits, and it's so much easier, even when ignoring the unix stuff underneath.
28I went through 3 PCs which all got screwed up one way or another and just got TIRED of all that crap. I saved up for a Mac and took the plunge. That was a few years ago and I haven't looked back. I love my iMac. It's hassle free and beautiful to boot.
29I have both! I grew up with Macs and got my first Sony vaio for college. Then I acquired a Mac laptop, and for Christmas I also got an HP laptop. I find it very usual and versatile to have both.
30Up until 2 years ago I was a pc user but after having consistent hassles with a pc I went mac and I've never looked back. My parents even have a dell desktop that is giving them problems and they say once it bites the dust they are going mac as well. It's so easy to use. One touch of a button and your on and doing what you need to do.
31I have both a Mac and a PC ...I can't choose lol I love Mac's for so many reasons but, I have a PC because for somethings....I just prefer a PC
32I go back and forth, as a kid I had a mac then in school we learned how to use both, then it was a PC at home, and then now we have both at home.
33woohoo for not fitting in anywhere! You see, the comment about knowing for sure which side we're on doesn't apply to me because frankly, I'm on both.
You see, I'm a hardcore gamer girl, but I'm also an artist / writer. And when I see something that works better than something else in either department, I go for it.
Personally, I prefer Windows / PC's for my desktop / home computer because gaming is smoother, my 'for fun' applications are more widely supported, etc.
However, I have craved a MacBook for years because of the amazing amount of creative and productive software available for Mac's and the fact that when it comes to creative pursuits, Mac is definitely the way to go.
So, my answer? Both.
34i use both. i have a pc at home because the price is right and it does all i want. i use a mac at work because they are awesome and my job pays for it!
35I use both but avoid Windows like the plague. Windows is like taking the Mac operating system, making everything backwards and adding 3 extra steps.
36Geeksugar, are you trying to imply something by changing the wording to the first two questions? If so, I haven't heard of many people who have switched from Mac to a PC either.
LOL Silver. ITA with you. Which reminds me, someone, a date, once asked me if I still enjoyed using Windows-PCs and I answered, "Only when I want to do things the hard way." The guy was a big PC fan, so I sat there in total shock when he actually laughed at my lame joke. I guess some PC users do have a sense of humor. (Yes, another lame joke.)
37I like both, though use a PC because...it's more comfortable.
38I love Mac but I would love to get one of those tiny netbooks
39I have been a MAC user for 2 years and right now I can say that I won't buy a PC again. I love my MAC and I am trying to convert family and friends.
40I am a PC wanna be mac user. Honestly, the PC has so many flaws but it just works for me. :}
41Mac lover!!! since I discovered it like 5 years ago!
42Sometimes I use my bf's vaio and I remember how much I love my MacBook Pro!!! no virus, no crash!!!
In school we're required to use Linux - I believe the distribution is SUSE; it's been awhile since I've been in the lab - but at home we're huge techie geeks and have had PCs since before I was born. The artist side of me would love to try out a Mac, and they have built-in compilers and more Unix-like support for coding ... but they're so expensive. I've had a Windows/Linux dual-boot laptop for five years and it still works perfectly.
43"Honestly, I can see the merits of both. I've mainly worked with PCs but I recently re-involved myself with Macs. So, I love 'em both. Is that weird?"
Raxi, that's not weird at all - you have summed me up in a nutshell. I think I'll continue to be a PC girl until the gaming world catches up and starts releasing games for both at the same time consistently. We're getting there! A few years ago, PC and Mac releases were sometimes years apart - now some games are released on both PC and Mac with only a few months in between the two.
44had a hard time deciding which of the two first ones to vote for... but from PC to Mac. And never going back. Well actually my first ever computer was a Mac and the only thing I did with it was playing around with Kid Pix. so actually Mac - Pc - Mac
45I switched to Mac by buying a brand-new, shiny, beautifully assembled unibody Macbook just a couple of weeks ago... after using Windows for more than 15 years... and I guess you can tell I'm really happy about the change
46i grew up on a PC but am now a mac girl
47I see over 80% people who say they switched to a Mac in this comments, yet in the poll we see things differently...
On Topic
I am an Mac veteran!
48I'm a proud Mac convert
49Once you go Mac, you'll never go back.
