Apparently, spam e-mails are on the rise, but people don't seem to be complaining much. According to USA Today, thirty-seven percent of U.S. e-mail users say they are getting more junk in their personal e-mail accounts, and 29 percent see an increase in their work accounts. The Pew Internet and American Life Project found that about half say they have not noticed a change, while 28 percent of Internet users now say that spam is not a problem at all, up from 16 percent in June 2003. Here's more:
"It's maybe starting to become part of life online," said Susannah Fox, associate director with Pew. "Once something's part of life online, people feel that they should just stop complaining about it and move on, even though people are still annoyed by it."

I know that I get more spam now than I used to, but spam filters have also improved. Since it only takes a few more seconds to delete them, it doesn't really bother me much. Go Gmail.
1Gmail is awesome. I only have one or two breakthrough spams a month. if that. what is there to complain about if your account automatically deletes them anyway? Gmail is my true love.
2Yahoo has pretty good filters too. I get maybe a few a month that make it into my inbox, yet I have over a hundred in my bulk folder.
3I like Earthlink's lock down mode approach.. nothing gets through unless they're in my address book. New senders get a nice message saying they need to be authorized to send me email and get a chance to submit a plea to be let in. Plus it makes me secretly happy to know that every piece of spam that comes to me gets a bounce back, therefore I'm spamming the spammers!
4macgirl, that's awesome! You actually had me at "submit a plea to be let in." I just had this vision of my friends begging me to accept their emails! I wish we could ALL spam the spammers.
5I pretty much just click all and delete when I see my spam in my junk email box.
6I'm a Gmail girl too - hardly any spam gets by their filters. But one funny thing is that my Google Calendar Reminders started going to spam - they thought they themselves were spam? Funny!
