The new first family may still be busy narrowing down their puppy choices before moving into the White House — a labradoodle and a Portuguese water dog are in the running — but they have settled on one item, a Nintendo Wii. Obama, a huge sports enthusiast, surprised his daughters with a Wii gaming console on Christmas.

According to The New York Times, he has been getting some bowling time in with Wii Sports, but I don't know if that will be enough to prevent him from turning the White House bowling alley into a basketball court. Nonetheless, it'll be exciting to see what other gadget goodies he brings with him to the White House.

This photo is the best thing I have seen all day.
Presidential product placement!
Is it too much to ask to see Obama playing Wii Sports?
I love WiiFit! It's so cool they're getting a Wii, so much fun.
i'm going home and making an obama mii.
Um, I feel like that's not a real photo...isn't that the dress Michelle wore a month ago when she visited with Laura Bush at the White House while Barack met with George? I think maybe a note up there that it's not a real photo would be a good service to your readers, Popsugar...
Wii are freakin' awesome, my sister has one. That must be awesome to play on a big screen. I'm jealous.
Ya starlotus that's when she went to the White House, I'm surprised they chose that pic but I love the wii sitting next to Michelle.

OMG, I would LOVE to see pictures of Obama playing the Wii. Shows how much he is trying to go for the everyday family man. I must say, he is really hip.
To me this is an example of Obama not walking the walk. Because in the Change We Can Believe In book he's always saying "turn off the TV and take away the video games" and now here he goes buying his kids a Wii. Also enrolling the girls in that Sidwell Friends school instead of a public school in the D.C. school system, which has a tough broad for a superintendent. And this inauguration special on Sunday only being on shown on cable or satellite, not thinking about us poor people who can't afford cable or satellite or a new TV and have to use those awful converter boxes.
Pink I'd say there are way too many security problems with putting the Presidents children in public school. He can still "talk the talk" while making sure his children are safe.
Obama didn't insinuate to not buy children video games at all, he just means in moderation. I know of children who come home at 3 and play til 7 when dinner is ready and then play till bedtime. He just wants to encourage parents to limit the amount of time children spend playing video games. The girls only watch an hour of t.v. a day so I think they'll be pretty strict when it comes the Wii.
The school issue is a personal decision for the Obama family and has never once said that he wouldn't send his kids to private school. And Malia and Sasha already go to private school. When Amy Carter went to public school she wasn't allowed to go to recess (because the playground was too close to the street) and had very little friends. I don't think it would be fair for them not to have recess just to make a political point.
PS, PInkvzm: The inauguration special is being shown by HBO, who's working with cable providers to bring it to people who don't subscribe to HBO.
