Phew, a happy ending to a tourists-getting-lost story! A couple of tourists who got lost in the cold, snowy Swiss mountains were saved by the light of their MP3 player, whose faint light was seen by the rescuers on the lookout for them.
I count myself lucky that I've never been in a scary situation I've needed to be rescued from, but I often consider what would help me in an emergency like that — the GPS on my phone is not only good for trying to find a restaurant I've never been to.
But I want to know — have you ever been saved by a gadget of yours in an emergency situation?

Not a life threatening situation, but thank God for my phone's navigation feature. My boss can be super last minute with errands when he send me to Phoenix.
1I have done a lot of backcountry work in the U. S. and out and have relied on my Miox purifier way more than I ever thought possible. I have never been in an emergency situation with it but I know it has kept me out of some by now.
2only if you count my cellphone light keeping me from falling over in heels on snowy ground in the dark...
3Thank goodness for the flashlight app and google maps!
4Yes my iPod saved me when i had my wisdom teeTh -3- surgery from listing to the horrible sounds
5Mine hasn't really saved me. But I still love it.
6My iPhone saved me, my mom, and my sis from cold and darkness when we were on the side of a road in the early morning--I'm talking about 4 a.m. I drove to pick up my dad, whose car stopped on the way to work. He took my car to go to work and left us to wait for the tow truck that never came. After much waiting and when the initial shock subsided, I ended up googling the nearest towing service. I had no clue where I was(except that I was really far from home), so the map was a real life saver. I also downloaded the flashlight app while I was out there. Thank you phonie!!
7Well, nothing really dangerous has happened, but iPods have definitely helped to see something during blackouts.
8I fell while hiking and used my digital camera to assess the damage to my face, cheek and mouth since I couldn't see them and wanted to see what I did to myself!
