When I reminisce about the Best of 2008 I can't help but think Google. Their biggest addition to the geek world in 2008 is probably the Android platform (which now runs on the T-mobile G1 phone), but other features and updates like the Chrome Browser, Gmail themes and additions, iGoogle (and themes), Knol (Google’s Wikipedia), Mail Goggles for Gmail, Picasa 3.0 and Video Chat for Gmail all provided their own unique function and entertainment.

I really like Picasa since I don't have Photoshop at home, it's a good free alternative.

oh jees it's a tie between Picasa and the skins for Gmail, for me.

I haven't played with Chrome too much but I'm sure I'll make the switch (like when I finally switched from Yahoo to Google!) When it starts having better add on capabilities (can't live without Ad Block) it will be just about perfect for me. I find my Firefox is a bit jumpy these days, sometimes lagging a lot - whereas Chrome doesn't at all. I also like the way it shows your download in a seperate tab.

I am loving chrome. The little features they have added make browsing easier. Not to mention it is so much more appealing to the eye than any other browser.

I'm in love with Chrome. I was a huuuuuge FF fan but never went back from the first day i tried Chrome, even if it still misses a few important features. But seriously, Chrome is amazing.

The only thing I really use are the Gmail Themes, so they're for the win!

If I HAD a G1, then that would have gotten my vote. I hope I can save enough money to get one soon! @_@ It'd be a nice phone and a refreshing alternative to the iPhone.

chrome is my favorite!
bah google has really been there this year, and chrome is so fast and it never crashes - i had it crash once. my boyfriend is jealous because it's not available for his o.s. and he loves it on mine.

Gmail themes! I love how my beach theme changes depending on what time of the day it is. Lovely!

Chrome became my browser of choice for a brief time, but lost out to Firefox for compatibitlity issues with some websites. I'll check it out again when their next post beta version comes out.

i'm a fan of gmail chat! and i love the themes. haven't tried chrome yet but i'll give it a try next year. the phone is probably awesome but i'm a iphone girl.
