An avid iPhone app watch site has reported that Apple has reached a huge milestone — a grand total of 10,000 apps [1] (or thereabouts, they concede).

I certainly feel like I've looked at 10,000 apps [2] and tested out nearly that many, but when it comes down to it, I edit quite harshly on my iPhone. I have honed it down to ones that I absolutely need [3] or love [4], and get rid of those that are really just novelties [5] and fun for a day.

Even so, I still have about 40 essential apps on my iPhone (and that number looks to increase, since I'm crazy for new cool ones); so share with me — how many do you have?
