I'm obviously a big fan of Animal Crossing — having spent hours on end playing Wild World on my DS — I'm happy to say I've already put in some good time with Animal Crossing: City Folk, since its release on Sunday. It's the same game you know and love from before (which could be a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it), but thankfully there are a few awesome new features on the Wii version that you won't find on any of the other consoles.

One of which is the Wii Speak adapter ($30) that lets you chat with others from around the world via your WiFi connection. Just attach the USB speaker into the Wii and you're off. But the coolest thing about this version has to be the DS import feature. Instead of making a brand new character in City Folk, you can transfer your town from your DS and start where you last left off. I'm totally stoked about that since I've upgraded my house quite a bit. Plus, working for Tom Nook to pay off my mortgage wasn't easy — who wants to start that all over again from scratch?
Animal Crossing City Folk is now available online ($50) or in stores. But here's a tip: pick the game and microphone bundle from Amazon for $70 — you'll save ten bucks!

I got this (the bundle) on Sunday and it's been awesome! Just not sure if I know anybody (friends) else who will buy it so I can actually use the microphone!
1i love animal crossing! i can't wait to get this game!
2Awesome!! It is on my Christmas list. Though I have not played the DS version.
3Is it like "The Sims" where you are people and do things?
4I'm on the fence as to whether I want to get it... I think right now I'd rather get Quantum of Solace. I have a problem with buying the speaker/mic if it's only for one game.
5Got mine on Sunday too, right after the football game! Animal crossing is awesome.
6I want it for DS
7i. need. this. ^_______________^
8Briandiesel: Animal Crossing isn't exactly like The Sims, but it's based on the same idea - you control a character and play through their life. AC is in real-time and while The Sims's main focus is taking care of your Sim (physically and emotionally), AC is more about interaction, shopping, and daily activities.
I miss playing Animal Crossing (the GC and DS versions!)...when my days were less complicated, I spent an hour a day in my DS town. I had a nickname, a two-story house, and 6 best friends!
9I love this game, I picked it on Sunday as well and have trouble turning it off to go to sleep/work. I love that they have incorporated alot of the things from the GC version as well and some new things around.
I found the mushrooms yesterday and one was actually part of the mush set (that was only available during the acorn festival before).
10I want this so bad, but it would mean either buying a Wii or monopolizing my roommate's. Either way, I'd be giving up my social life. This is the same reason why I didn't continue playing WoW after my trial period ended and I realized how upset I was by that. I even had to put the Sims down after a while because I was spending more time doing in-game housework than real housework. At least Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS allows me to play in the car on the way to work so I can get my daily fix without being stationary.
11OMG LOLOL! Nooo, I stopped playing mine on the DS and have no clue where its at.
12Oh well, its better this way. I need to focus on passing college instead of paying off Tom Nook's mortgages.
Importing your DS character only imports their face/hairstyle and catalog. (But, oh... having that catalog is oh-so-nice.)
I broke the top screen on my DS a few months ago, so I haven't been able to play WW... glad to have my Mae back.
13Ooooh. That reminds me, I need to play more of WW. I was in the middle of moving all my furniture around when I stopped playing.
14Really love Animal Crossing, really hate the commercials. They're so depressing. The first one seems like it's a terminally ill woman being visited by an obligated friend.
