I'm a huge animal lover, so when I came across Dogpile, a search engine site that is trying to raise $1 million before 2009 to donate to animals in need, I wanted to get involved immediately. With the way the economy is right now, charities often suffer and people are more apt to give away pets due to financial woes. Similar to GoodSearch, which donates money to the charity of your choice, Dogpile will donate a portion of its search revenue to helping our furry friends.

And on Wednesday, Dogpile launched a new search engine aggregator site called Dogpile Search and Rescue that will donate money to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) whenever you conduct a search. Don't expect Google, but just know how much you're helping out, just by doing what you would naturally do on the net!

I remember DogPile from way back. It was over cluttered, bringing the results from the major search engines just didn't yield the best results. Looks like they are trying to rebrand.
1awesome concept!!
2done..it is now my homepage
3I was thinking the exact same thing DigitalAngel...
4Me too Digital and Megatron, I used to be all on this search engine back in the day, but sorry, I'm all Google now hehe.
5Dogpile = my new search engine
6Woo-hoo for Dogpile! Two of my close friends were involved in this redesign/launch, so it's fun to see it mentioned here
They also have apps on myspace and facebook that are partnered with Petfinder. If you add the app to your profile, it allows friends who visit your page to scroll through Petfinder listings of Animals in need of homes. And I promise, by adding any of their apps you won't get spammed or any other nonsense! My friends wouldn't be involved in designing anything like that.
7Free way to donate to Pet Charities
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Search and Rescue program is now called Dogreatgood.com. They raised $400k for pet charities already. Right now the featured charity is the Petfinder Foundation. There are about 10 other pet charities benefitting too. All you have to do is do your internet searches from that site or from the toolbar. Easy to way donate in a down economy.
