I love my books and magazines....I collect my fav's and just do not like the idea of going tech

I'd have to say I'm not a huge fan of the Kindle... While its convenience is very appealing, I just have to have hard copies of my books. It's just part of my weirdness - I hate borrowing books from the library or friends, I need to get a copy for myself to keep on my bookshelf.

I'm in agreement with books over Kindle, I like having my books on display. They always make for great talking points when I have guests, both my 'real' books and the ones I have for decoration (time life mysteries of the unknown series, Jaques Cousteau's the living ocean, and a 1982 World Book collection). I'm not against the Kindle and would buy one with out hesitation if Amazon were to offer free kindle editions with actual physical editions.

Digital ink, e-books... I MUST read the dead tree version.

I'd like it if I could read ebooks on my LG VX9400 phone. I can watch videos, play music, look at photos, but no ebooks! Kindle sounds nice if it was in color and had a SD slot and allowed you to play music while reading...if you were in a location where you could.

I prefer real books WAY over anything like Kindle. Part of the pleasure of reading a book is its..bookishness, and I have some really cool ones from childhood as well as some antiques I genuinely cherish.

So definitely that for sure, and I think e-magazines would qualify in that same way, I prefer "real" ones.

Other than that I have actually resisted what seems increasingly popular where I live, which is GPS. I just feel like after a few decades on this planet, they seem a bit overmuch unless I am in the middle of Siberia.

Also, my mobile phone is just a phone. I listen to music elsewhere, and I don't even like the phone near me that often.

Its funny because in the sense of computers and sound systems/television I am all about keeping things (reasonably) relevant. Not in a hurry to get Blu-Ray at least for the next 2-3 years though.

Same here Geek. I don't know; I love gadgets as much as the next girl but something about putting pictures in a frame seems.. cold, almost. Like Kindle. I'd rather go through the trouble of printing out pictures or buying books than having lifeless data. They're tangible and personal and physically yours forever.

Well, digital pictures lol. Besides the thought of pictures switching up kinda creeps me out for some reason..

i don't want an electronic reader like kindle but i know eventually i'll get one. i think digital photo frames are a waste though. unnecessary use of energy.

There is just something about books and photo's being on paper that make them special. I think it's down to the whole experience. If you read a good book you want to keep the 'actual' book with you and you're able to relive the experience again and again. The paper and not using electricity (something we're rarely able to do nowadays) all become part of it. If it's on a digital reader then it's just not the same.

It's the same with photo's. If I see a good picture in a magazine, I can cut it out and stick it on my wall and look at it whenever I want. If I wanted to store it digitally I would have to flick through all the other pictures before I can find it.

I think the Kindle is a brilliant idea for when you go away and want to bring several books with you, and only for that reason would I consider buying one.

I have no problem doing extended reading on my laptop, so I don't see the point of a kindle. Talk about a unitasker.

Another thing I'm hesitant to adopt is Blu-Ray/HD. I think this is going to go the way of the zip drive. It'll be obsolete before it gets popular. We're near a point where optical media is going to go obsolete as things like solid state media and hard drives get bigger in capacity and smaller in physical size... and also cheaper and cheaper. Downloads will take over as the means of distribution (some dinosaurs are fighting against this inevitability pretty hard, but they'll die off soon and then it's all over). I'm really sick of optical media anyway - having to be careful not to scratch it is so annoying.

I don't think digital pictures are quite "there" yet, but they will be. I LOVE the Kindle and am hoping to get one for Christmas. Who needs paper books? I don't care about displaying my books. I don't need people to think I'm very erudite and own a stupid amount of books. I'd rather streamline my life and own less crap.

As a writer and avid reader, I can't imagine ever giving up my paper books for Kindle. I think it's probably one of those things that are great for some people but not for others. Then again, I was never a fan of books on tape or CD.

I am a HUGE fan of the Kindle. Books should be about the story, not what it looks and/or feels like in my hand. Once you open a book and get lost in the story, I don’t think the physical aspect of it matters anymore, nor should it. I’m with B1uebunn. I don’t care about displaying my books either, and I hate clutter. The Kindle actually revitalized my interest in reading. In the first 2-3 months of owning a Kindle, I probably read 10-13 books, which is more than I’ve read in the entire year or two previous to that. The convenience that it offers in terms of instantly getting a new book whenever you want one is almost dangerous. And free sample chapters that you can read at your leisure to help decide which book you want to lose yourself in next is one of my favorite features. Also, I’m very pleased with Amazon’s service and the fact that they keep an archive of your purchased books, to be downloaded whenever you want. I probably sound like I drank the Kindle Kool-Aid, but I’m a fan! =)

The Kindle. And don't laugh- TiVo. I watch enough TV without it, I'd never get off the couch if I were able to record even more.

I'm slow to adopt a lot of new tech because I'm cautious with my money. I always want to make sure I'll actually use it enough to make it worth it.

Totally worth it: My cable with DVR, my convertible laptop with Wacom screen, My plain cell phone that I only use to call people or the occasional text, and my Wii (even though I should play more often), digital camera.

Things I have and never use: digital frame (although it's old and I would probably be fine with a wifi one), MP3 player, pocket pc PDA, iCat (although it's super cute), separate hard drive (it broke the second day I used it).

Waiting for: An all in one device that is useful enough to satisfy all my smaller needs in a highly portable format at a reasonable price. This includes smartphones, iphones, UMPCs or mini-notebooks, and e-readers. A cute robot also useful enough to make it worth the money. A robot vacuum that does a really good job on pet hair.

I really don't want to use a Kindle. I think they're stupid.

I also don't like digital picture frames. My hubby got me one for Christmas 2 yeas ago and we don't use it.
