Now that you're singing Fergie's tune in your head, I'll direct you to this pimped-out LaCie 500GB External Hard Drive ($150). It's gold, it's artsy, it's totally chic. For any geek, this would be the next best thing to getting an actual gold brick under the tree this Christmas.

We all know the importance of backing up your data, and now you can do it dripping with style. That is, if cereal- and milk carton-themed hard drives aren't your thing. For me, there's no question which one I would prefer. Ooh flossy, flossaay!

only $150? awesome! i love it!
1I like the looks of their shiny black one with the blue LED. I don't know why but I am a sucker for blue LED's. http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?pid=11014
2That is good, great price!
3oooo very chic!!!
4It is pretty, but for the price, I'd rather have a 1TB drive.
5I have the red brick lego-looking LaCie external hard drive and I love it.
Hot-swappable, cute, fun, and practical. Though this new gold one is très chic.
6now that's a sexy hard drive! and much better than the standard issue grey or blue that we have in the office!
7Its cool..but not really me. Everything in my home office is sort of black with blue lights..meant to be functional but I also wanted it to be a pleasant environment AND double up for gaming. So I have some nice Creative Speakers, Merc Stealth illuminated keyboard (gamer!) and Wacom Bamboo tablet - all black with blue lighting. I have the Benq V2400 monitor and same deal - black (and some silver with blue lighting - even my damn COMPUTER case is the Nexus 900 gamer case (black with blue lighting, see thru panel, blue fans).
It may not be especially feminine but its slick and pretty - like macgirl above, I love me some blue lights.
This drive sadly would be totally lost in my getup, it would look out of place. But I suppose it might work elsewhere.
8I actually do have a LaCie backup external HD..black, with blue lights. I just remembered.
9It's so pretty!
10LaCie makes pretty drives, but they're not reliable. I've had two, and both of them died just after a year. LaCie's warranty period is also significantly shorter than any other competitor.
There's no point in backups if you can't be sure that the backup drive will work!
