In the Twilight trailer, we see Bella get rescued from being hit by a van by Edward (goosebumps). I'm not as concerned with the fact that a teenage boy can stop steel (because he looks so hot doing it) as much as I am with the fact that Bella was in the parking lot with her earbuds in. No, no!

We all know that it's dangerous to have your headphones in when you're near cars, but I admit that this is a no-no I participate in, though I try to keep my volume low enough so I can hear my surroundings without becoming a victim (as I am sans vampire boyfriend).
We're so used to wearing MP3 players that we have a false sense of security, when we could be close to being in an accident; tell me, have you ever gotten hurt because you had your headphones on and blaring?

Anyways, I've never been in danger of being hit by a car, but it causes misunderstandings at work sometimes. I'll be sitting in my cube, and our desks face away from the cube entrance. People will be talking to me, and I can't hear them because I'm listening to music or a podcast that keeps me on task.
Or, I'll be walking around the halls, and someone will call out to me to say hi, and I don't acknowledge them because I have my buds in and jamming.
1I wear mine when I'm at work. I am not supposed to because of what I do. I read meters and there's alot of walking across streets and going into backyards where there could be naughty dog waiting. But I only wear one in so I have free ear. If I am going somewhere that would require my full attention, I take the earbud out so I can focus. Although I would love it if Edward were there to swiftly rescue me.
2one ear in, one ear out. music and saftey :}
3Yeah.. a few times too many. Walking across campus when cars that are supposed to yield don't, or when I'm driving (no radio or player IN car...)
4I used to wear them a lot when walking around in Seoul, but not so much in the U.S. because I drive more here. I don't think they ever put me in danger though.
5I want to yell at cyclists when I see them with earbuds in -- big no no !
6I only wear my headphones when I'm on a long commute and take them off before I reach my stop.
7Running, I agree so hard it hurts. I always leave one earbud out just when I'm walking around to make sure that I'm not only safe, but also because I absolutely hate being startled. Being caught up in my own little music bubble when somebody approaches me generally startles the crap out of me.
Anyway, every time I see a cyclist jetting around with both earbuds in it just absolutely amazes me - cyclists have to (or are supposed to, at least) follow many of the same laws as motorists, and I don't know about everyone else, but here in WA you're not allowed to drive with both ears occupied by audio devices. Also, if a cyclist cuts me off and I can't really yell at them and honking just isn't as fun.
8Exactly, GirlOverboard! Cyclists are supposed to follow the rules of the road, and drivers are not allowed to wear headphones either. I do listen to music when I run, but I have it on a low volume and am always aware of what is going on around me.
9I hate to say it, but I put myself in constant peril when I walk my dog because I often take my iPod with me. I am so wrapped up in the music and making sure my dog is safe that I often forget about myself.
10I wear them while biking, usually turned up too loud. I know I'm going to get hit by a car sooner than later.
11I do the one ear listening. I can hear surroundings on the other ear.
12oh man she is the luckiest girl in the world to be soo close to him. and then to kiss him.
13I walk from my work to the bus tunnel & then I put my headphones on when I'm on the bus. I don't trust the drivers and I like to be able to hear the cars.
14I don't generally take my Zune anywhere unless I'm going on vacation.
15I wear them n the hopes of some hot guy rescueing me if i get in trouble...Lol that's not true, I just forget to take them off sometimes.
16Twiiiiiilight!
17and yes, I've definitely been in danger with my headphones on.
...often actually.
haha, runningesq, when me and my cousins ride bikes to town we all wear headphones over both ears. Difference being that more than half of the way to town the roads are practically empty because we live out in the country, once we get on to busy roads we either turn off the music, or only have them over one ear.
18I was physically threatened in the spring so I stopped wearing headphones walking around. Just this week I started wearing just one headphone.
19yes, i am often almost hit by cars, ignore people, walk into things, or get into trouble because of my headphones. well especially in the winter when it snows a lot, i have to walk home from school and sometimes they dont clear the snow off the streets so i have to walk in the middle of the road
20Why do people live with earbuds in? It's ridiculous. What's wrong with living in the moment and paying attention to reality? Do you really have to be overstimulated during every single moment of the day?
21That's kind of harsh #21..
Me, I only use one earphone if I am walking alone but never two. I don't understand how people can put their life @ risk like that.
22I rarely have my headphones in, but if I wear them for going for a walk or something I always triple check streets before crossing etc.
23is that one of the in-ear ones? They are more dangerous because they block any sounds other than the music from your ipod.
24As long as edward is dere 2 save me i dont care if I get smashed into forks elementary tarmac
