Happy Election Day, everybody! If you're a Californian, you're also deciding the fate of gay marriage in this state. There have been a lot of controversial ads, but this is the first geeky one I've seen. This ad's creators, ostensibly opposers of Prop 8, use a parody of Apple's "Get a Mac" campaign, casting the Mac character as the open-minded one who's against banning gay marriage.

Do you think the creators were adding additional commentary by making the be-suited PC into the Prop 8 supporter, or was it just the luck of the draw in the satire? Are any PC-loving, Prop 8 opposers offended?

I'm getting the Mac VS PC ads and their knockoffs, but I thought this one was cute.
I almost wish I lived in California just so I can vote against 8.
1As a PC user it does kind of bug me that that the gay hater was PC. I also think it's funny that the PC was yes on prop 8 when Microsoft has, for quite some time, offered benefits to same sex partners.
2I think what the campaign meant by that was that Apple is a more alternative company and because they recently donated to the No on 8 campaign and publicly denounced Prop 8, so, I think it makes sense. I'm not offended because I am a Mac, but, anyway, everyone vote no on 8! Don't take away mine and many others civil rights!
3hahaha i loooove this!!! but i don't really think it is an attack on microsoft the company (pcs) i think they just thought it would be funny, in no relation to pcs or macs
4I don't think they were trying to connect Yes on Prop 8 voters to anything. They just wanted to do a knockoff of another commercial for something they supported.
I mean, in all these Mac ad knockoffs (ex. PS2 vs. Wii) there's always one side that's going to seem like the uptight, conservative, more boring (maybe older? or less appealing to the younger crowd?) side, but that doesn't mean they're automatically related to the PC/PC users :]
