It's clear that Steve and Apple are psyched on the new details of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, but they're the most proud of their MacBooks.
It's not only the best-selling Mac ever, but it's "one of the best ever products in the industry," says Steve — and it's about to get better. Where to begin?
- The price point of the MacBook is coming down! The entry price of the MacBook dropped from $1099 to $999! The 160 GB version is $1299, and the 250 GB is $1599.
- The body will be available in aluminum, just like the MacBook Pros and Air.
- They'll be built brick-style — that is, out of one piece — and will be half a pound lighter than the earlier MacBooks.
- They get the one-button glass trackpad and the corner-to-corner black glass display (hot!) like the new Pros.
- It's made and packaged in an environmentally responsible way; it finally got EPEAT Gold certification and is made with 42 percent less packaging.

1Hmmm, I thought Gizmodo was saying that there was still going to be an entry level white one. The apple store is down or else I would confirm..

3Yeah, so the entry level $999 version is white and not aluminum. I'm sure that one will go away within the next 6 months. They have too many different versions of laptops right now. Apple likes simplicity.
4I am kind of disappointed. I was REALLY looking forward towards the new macbooks, but I don't know. First off, I do NOT like the black keypad. Why couldn't they have made it a choice to have black or white or maybe even silver? Glass looking keypad would have been good too, to go with the glass trackpad theme.
And second, I do not like that black outline they now have on the "monitor". I don't like
that. I'm just a little disappointed now and I was really looking forward to today.
5I got my Macbook over the summer (black) and I like the way it looks so much better than the new ones. Anyway none of the other new features make a difference to me. Usually I get upgrade envy with Apple, but not this time!
6I want to try one of these out for sure! I used to have a white MacBook but the ridge on the plastic just killed my wrists when I typed, so if the aluminum case solves that problem, it's a winner in my book.
7The new macbook pros ROCK. i would HIGHLY suggest them to anyone...computer savvy or not. Cheers to apple.

9Oh man I just had to buy a new MacBook last month, they couldn't have come out with the new models then? I swear every time I buy a new Mac this happens! I want the new one!
