Put aside your appraisal of the rather traditional looks of this PBTeen nightstand, and focus on the fact that the drawer houses a three-plug outlet and a hole for the cable in the back. That's right, the Ultimate Smart Bedside Table is doing double duty as a nightstand and a charging station.
Why aren't more furniture makers doing this?! You could drill into an existing nightstand you have or deal with your cord mess, of course, but I love that Pottery Barn recognizes how convenient this type of integration is.

My only problem is that it's $350, for a design I'm not terribly in to. Could I put that aside for its cleverness? What do you think?

It's a good idea, but I wouldn't need the extra charging station and the design is so not my style.
1I think it's a really outdated, boring style. Is that supposed to be ironic, given the function of the technology it's to support?
2Love it, hate the price.
Plus, I notice in thier picture, the cord looks like it's been jammed between the drawer and the body of the stand...
It'd be probably pretty easy to make one or buy a cheaper night stand similar to this and just make your alterations to it rather than dishing $350.
3i'd just assume making my own for that price..... or two! :]
4love this but i agree with malexa too expensive
5I just can't put aside my appraisal of the rather traditional looks.
6Way too expensive. I would honestly buy a better one that I liked and just drill the hole myself. :/
7It doesn't look that great to me.
8Of course the idea is great, but I would never buy it for the price. For the money, I'd much rather just drill into my own and have a side table in every room!
9Looks just like a regular old night stand. I like charging stations that look new age with a new clean design.
10Nice bedside table, but not worth the price.
11Calekey is right, the cord looks jammed.
I'd rather have a nice looking valet on my night stand. No smashed cords, and I can keep all my nessicities (glasses, car keys, jewelry, gadgets) in one place. Plus, then it can charge whatever I want.
12awesome idea, way too pricey. it looks like the hand-me-down furniture i have from my mom's childhood. i say just make your own.
13My parents just got a beautiful new bedroom set (much more stylish than this) and their nightstands have a little flip up door on the top at the back that has a full power strip under it and one little hole for all of the cords to come out of. Totally awesome! You wouldn't know it was there if you just saw the nightstand but all their cords for lamps, alarm clocks, and phone chargers are contained and hidden away.
14I think it's ridiculously overpriced for how ugly it is...
15It makes a lot more sense to just set it up yourself and drill a hole, then you can customize the table to your charging needs and furniture tastes... plus, you could forget about the bulky bedside table altogether and put a charging station in a desk, wall shelf, headboard, or wherever it suits your room.
I think it's nice, but I could, like you said, do it by myself to a table I already have.
