A 13-year-old text wiz, Morgan Pozgar, of Pennsylvania, won the first annual LG National Texting championship this past weekend, beating out Eli Tirosh (seen below in maroon robe), who was the LG West Coast Texting Champion. Apparently, the youngster beat out 200 other texters by typing "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in a record 15 seconds. Pozgar, who says she averages "more than 8,000 text messages per month," also took home the grand prize of $25,000 reports the Washington Post. She later told the AP, "I'm going to go shopping and buy lots of clothes." Hey, geek is chic, right?

9Sorry. Part of me is still astounded by the fact that this kid is texting that much on her cell phone in the first place. At 13, all she needs that cell phone for is emergencies and staying in touch with her parents. Jebus, whatever did we teenagers do without IMing and cell phones a mere 10 to 15 years ago?
I hope her parents put that $25k towards the surgery she'll need for correcting her RSI in a few years...
10She was interviewed on a local Pittsburgh radio show this morning and said she wanted to clarify the 8000 text message number--She sends *only* 4000 (or so) and the others are responses that she receives from those she has sent messages too. Oh, and she complained that her thumbs were sore today.

Aren't text messages for most phone companies like 10¢ each? Hmm, 8,000 x 10¢ = $800!
So, $800 ALONE for text messages. Granted I'm sure her parents have a plan with unlimited texting [they'd be CRAZY not to: $800 x 12 = $9600, which means it would amount to almost $10,000 a year if they didn't...crap, that's like half of a teacher's salary! Anyway...]. But that's besides the point.
She's 13! I would NEVER let my child do something that ridiculous. And instead of giving $25,000 to some idiotic, spoiled little girl, why not give it to a developing country instead? That $25,000 could have gone to MUCH better use.
Damn, I HATE the USA.

20I can so text faster than a 13 year old girl and i am younger then her. I just tried to type supercalifragilisticexpialidocious on my mom's cell. I did it in 9 seconds!! (I memorized how to spell it) it was so easy!
21she probably has UNLIMITED TEXTING so dont go all ape-shit on her ass about the phone bill that isnt even that much, its only a max of $70 a month witch isnt bad so just chill! (i know this b/c i txt alot too and my bill is $59.99 per/month )
