Ok, so maybe I'm not a pioneer when it comes to Macs but who what and why didn't anyone tell me about this amazing tip/trick?! A ginormous thanks goes out to Thai from Shopzilla, who provided me with some excellent "scrolling" advice after watching me struggle using my trackpad this week. Keep scrollin' down to learn about one very useful tip! On most Apple PowerBooks and MacBooks you can use this scrolling feature that will give you the option of scrolling vertically and horizontally in a window that has scroll bars - just by moving two adjoining fingers on the trackpad...check out exhibit A above- btw how hot are those nails? To scroll vertically, move two adjoining fingers up or down the trackpad. To scroll horizontally, move two adjoining fingers left or right on the trackpad. This is going to change my life.

What pretty pink nails!
2Ah you beat me to it! That was going to be a post in the Mac Geek Group
You can
also place two fingers on the trackpad and click the button for a right click option (same as holding down the ctrl button to get the right click action). Another really cool trackpad trick
is you can set it up to zoom! I have mine setup so if I hold onto the ctrl key and do the two finger trackpad scrolling thingy it will zoom in! I think a few of the options above are ones you
can turn on and off through the Trackpad system preferences.
3Thanks macgirl. I almost always use an external mouse cause it's easier to photoshop, but I love the zoom! Kudos!
4I love the nail polish!
5Pretty nails and nice tip!
6I know! It's a wonderful feature! I've gotten so used to it that I have trouble using a windows track pad...I try to scroll in the middle when i have to move over to the side...argg windows
7Hey MacGirl, where can one find the Mac Geek Group? I'd be interested in learning more of these tips! This is a good one!
8My hubby is always trying to get me to use this trick on my macbook, but somehow just can't get used to it!
9Megami76 I just started it this weekend but I'm trying to be very active with it! Hope you enjoy it http://teamsugar.com/group/220408
10MACGIRL! you have NO idea how excited I was to see that you can zoom! SUPER COOL!
11i've known about double-finger scrolling since i switched from a pc to a mac about a year and a half ago. Now i get frustrated when i try to do it on a pc and it doesn't work! Horizontal scrolling can get annoying because in firefox (and perhaps in safari/internet explorer...?) it works like the "back" and "forward" buttons, and if you don't move your fingers almost exactly vertically sometimes your mac will think you're trying to move horizontally and move you to the last website you visited instead of scrolling downward on the page. You can turn off horizontal scrolling in system preferences somewhere (can't tell you exactly where cause I'm writing from my work PC) while still leaving vertical scrolling active. I'd recommend this because at least for me vertical scrolling is way awesomer than horizontal scrolling and i sometimes like sitting at an angle to my computer and therefore have trouble keeping my fingers vertical on the pad...
12This "Trick" is soooo cool, it´s even mentioned in the Handbook!
13GREAT tip and LOVE the nails!
