Just when men thought they were more techie then women, CBC news reports that internet usage among women has been ahead of male usage for some time. The eMarketer says that "female usage of the internet in the U.S. has risen 12.4 per cent since 2000, compared with 3.2 percent for males."
Demographics show that young females tend to spend more time on social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and of course, Teamsugar. Unlike their male counterparts, who are apparently more apt to pursue the net for videos.
Don't expect these stats to change anytime soon - eMarketer estimates that by 2011, 109.7 million US females will be going online, amounting to 51.9 percent of the total online population. That calls for a - you go girl!

Expect that number to rise! The decline of male birth is on the rise for ppl in the US and Japan due to diet. According to ScienceDaily (4/10/07) http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/04/070409115759.htm

Who would of thought it!!Men love to get on line Too!!
4I think it's because women love to talk and online shopping is so hot right now.
Like meeeeee.
5I agree with ilogicaldee, online shopping is what I do the most of followed by the sugar sites and a few message boards.
6OH and also because while males might spend a lot of time on the computer, they tend to play computer games instead of using the internet while females don't play much in comparision.
7i think that women feel a greater need to be connected to the social scene as opposed to men who tend to take a more low key or play it by ear role. i know that when im not on my blackberry or online i feel sooo disconected. but it also gets us girls in trouble when we are supposed to be working.
8love,
