The television recording god, TiVo, is said to be getting a fancy new redesign sometime in the near future, which will put more content and ads to the main page. Rumor has it that the main menu will feature thumbnail pics of your recently watched shows, your favorites, and offer suggestions. It will also be much easier to navigate your way around — I think this seals the deal that I need to get my mom onto TiVo — and offers similar functionality as Apple TV by giving you the option to purchase content. No word just yet on when this new interface will take effect.

I'm diggin' the new look!
1The thumbnails of recently watched shows seems dangerous. I foresee tons of teenage boys having to explain questionable screenshots to their parents. Or some guy's friends coming over to watch the football game and then busting his chops for having just watched "Beaches".
Those name tags on the right menu are promising though. Hopefully they've finally added the capability to organize your recorded shows the way you want (i.e. "Talk Shows", "Kid's Shows", etc).
2That's exciting, I can't wait to try it out!
3i own a tivo, pay for the monthly service but have yet to connect it. at some point this story will matter to me. hahah.
4i used to have Tivo and got frustrated with it, but i have to say that the new look with the thumbnails - that's something that's a smart move for them. i work in advertising, and i have to say that we're always looking for ways to incorporate VoD and Tivo into the plan, and this seems like it could be a good thing - especially if they are moving ads to the main page.
5good! i'm tired of the old interface.
